You know, these things aren't really that difficult to use, once you get used to it.

[Martel gives a little wave into the camera and a bright smile.]

Well, it's been a busy first day! I won't bore anyone with the details, but I wanted to introduce myself and make both an offer and a request, so here we are.

My name is Martel Yggdrasill. I was a healer back home, so if you get hurt, please don't hesitate to call on me. I know there's a doctor in town, but if you're closer to (INSERT FARM PLOT HERE), you might as well come down and see me.

Anyway, I'm trying to get an orchard started, but I've run into the slight complication of funds. I'm not necessarily asking for a loan or anything, just some advice as to how to best scrape together some... seed money.

[And the entire spectrum of humor groans in pain.]

If you're curious as to how quickly my efforts will... bear fruit, well, I have something to show you.

[Another terrible pun is followed by her promptly turning her device to take in a... full-grown apple tree. With several ripe, juicy looking apples already hanging from it.

[Well, the fully grown apple tree and mentioning of an orchard definitely got Rip's attention as she studied it for the few moments it was on screen.]

How did you make it grow that quickly? I vant to start as orchard as vell und vould love to know.

Oh, I'm afraid I'm cheating a little. I'm a... dryad, I suppose? It's a little bit of a long story, but suffice to say I have fairly strong magic and a rapport with trees especially.

[Saying all of that, however, does give her an idea.] Although, come to think of it, I could make an offer regarding my powers to anyone who wants to grow some fruit trees.

If you are villing.. I vould appreciate zhe help und figure out how to pay you back. I just got done clearing zhe large area I vanted my fruit trees und Apples vere some of zhe ones I vanted to grow.

I vould just need zhem to be strong sturdy trees I could alzo climb...

[Rip might just be turning her orchard farm into her personal haven to hide in.]

I have a way with trees, you might say. And magic.

[She's a dryad-druid specializing in healing, basically.]

I do believe that it's going to be very helpful over the next few months while I'm trying to get this place in proper order. With any luck, I'll be shipping a great deal of fruit out soon enough.

Oh now that's an interesting idea! A few jars would be all I need to start making apple preserves, jam, that sort of thing...

[She'll have to figure out where she can get some jars then.]

Well, yes, my healing is magical in origin, but I try to keep myself as informed about the inner workings of the bodies of those I'm going to be working on as possible. I need to properly direct the energy I use, or I might end up doing more harm than good.

I don't know anything from growing apples to oranges, so I can't help you there. I don't know anything about farming when I got here.

But your apples look so delicious! Are you selling them? I think have a little change on me, but I think I can buy one at least.

That does seem to be a common theme with many of us who have arrived here.

[She's just glad she knows enough about plants in general to get by.]

Puns aside, though, I actually have similar talents...? Though they don't work quite so well here. ...Regarding money, I've had some success selling what I've been able to forage, but I admittedly also don't need much in the way of money for food or the like.

Foraging, you say? Now that actually is something I have quite a bit of experience in, being a former traveler. I just might be able to get what I need out of the forest itself!

Well, if you can make a tree grow fruit like that already, what's to stop you from using one of those apples to grow more trees? Or any other kind of fruit?

Oh I intend to, but my powers have their limits. Growing from a sapling to fruit-bearing is significantly easier than from a seed.

Besides, I'd only be able to raise apple trees that way, and there are... six types of trees Mister Pierre sells, I believe? Of course, that's ignoring the oak, maple and pine already here, but I hardly need to grow any more of those.

[Unless she starts becoming in need of wood, anyway.]

[He's just chinhandsing at the feed for a bit, but eventually decides to respond properly.]

I'm willing enough to lend a hand, but I'm afraid I don't have much cash to start with myself. ...And it doesn't look like you really need help with labor. [Must be nice to be a Goddess.]

[Oh. Oh goodness that is a familiar voice. She turns to the screen with wide eyes, starting to tear up...

And manages to avoid that by closing her eyes quickly and giving a little smile.]

Perhaps for the moment, seeing a familiar face would be nice enough.

[Huh. That sure is an apple tree. Time to actually pipe up, it would seem.]

Do... you need all the branches?

[Is that a normal question? Maybe. Maybe not. Best to follow it up.]

I'd-- pay for a cutting. Is all.

Oh! I suppose I could part with a branch or two. A cutting would grow faster than an entire new tree from a seed as some have suggested.

[Not as fast as the saplings Pierre sells, but then, the fact that those are so expensive is sort of the main issue here.]

[He's met a Martel before. Only once, though -- in Luceti, he'd been more acquainted with Yuan and more than just acquaintances with Mithos, but his brief meeting with the Martel that arrived there had given him an idea of a connection between the other two.

Mithos had been -- still is -- important to Jeb, even if he never managed to get Mithos to open his heart completely. Jeb still made a promise to him though. During times where Mithos had been able to accept it, Jeb had made an important promise to be always be his friend and never give up on him.

It's still a crucial promise to him, and he feels it only fair that he extends as much to the sister Mithos cares so much for.]

It's nice to meet you, Martel. [He smiles. Despite his slip up with Yuan, he can at least try to not do the same with Martel.] I'm Jeb, and I'm a healer as well!

[While he's unable to keep himself from laughing quietly at Martel's puns, he soon stares in awe at how she already had a fully grown apple tree.]

Wow, that's... [Amazing, even if he has an idea of how she did it.] Can you accelerate the growth of plant life too?

Oh excellent! The more healers we have here, the better off we all are!

[Especially when idiots decide to start showing off by diving into the forest without preparing themselves adequately. She's all too sure they're all going to be needed.

Yes, I can, though trees are my specialty. I have a certain rapport with them.

[It's (painful, guilt-inducing, wonderful) awkward to see her over the network. No matter what anyone tells him otherwise, he can't let go of his shame over what he's done, and it's almost enough to make him not respond at all.

Almost. Eventually, he forces a smile.]
