You know, these things aren't really that difficult to use, once you get used to it.

Well, it's been a busy first day! I won't bore anyone with the details, but I wanted to introduce myself and make both an offer and a request, so here we are.

My name is Martel Yggdrasill. I was a healer back home, so if you get hurt, please don't hesitate to call on me. I know there's a doctor in town, but if you're closer to (INSERT FARM PLOT HERE), you might as well come down and see me.

Anyway, I'm trying to get an orchard started, but I've run into the slight complication of funds. I'm not necessarily asking for a loan or anything, just some advice as to how to best scrape together some... seed money.

[And the entire spectrum of humor groans in pain.]

If you're curious as to how quickly my efforts will... bear fruit, well, I have something to show you.

[Another terrible pun is followed by her promptly turning her device to take in a... full-grown apple tree. With several ripe, juicy looking apples already hanging from it.

Well, if you can make a tree grow fruit like that already, what's to stop you from using one of those apples to grow more trees? Or any other kind of fruit?

Oh I intend to, but my powers have their limits. Growing from a sapling to fruit-bearing is significantly easier than from a seed.

Besides, I'd only be able to raise apple trees that way, and there are... six types of trees Mister Pierre sells, I believe? Of course, that's ignoring the oak, maple and pine already here, but I hardly need to grow any more of those.

[Unless she starts becoming in need of wood, anyway.]

I see your point, but what if you started your own sapling booth? You could start with apple saplings and expand as you obtain other fruits. Something a little different than just selling the apples for cash.

[ Hell, she could even start a bartering system with people bringing fruit in exchange for keeping a sapling for her own orchard. ]

Yes, a few people have suggested that. It's a good idea, probably the fastest route I have to actually getting a decent start.

[She's gonna be basically wiped out every day so long as she does it, but hey, it'll be worth it.]

All that said, why the rush? Part of the charm of this place is to slow down.

Well, I'm just not entirely sure how long a period of time I will have to get everything set up before winter comes by.

Does your power stop in the winter?

[ It wouldn't surprise him if a nature related power had a limitation of the seasons on it. ]

Not entirely, but for all practical purposes, it might as well. Nothing grows in winter, after all.

Not even inside? Maybe not full grown trees, but what about the saplings?

If I had a greenhouse, perhaps...

Gathering the materials for a greenhouse? Hmmm... I would certainly like to have one. I like that idea.
