[Video] - 001
[ Have a confused ninja on your screens, fellow farmers! Because one second, she's, well--dead. And the next, she's bouncing along on a bus headed to Martel-knows-where.
Okay, a farm. And that very farm can be seen behind Sheena, and from the size and buildings, one can see it's a Standard Farm.
Nothing too big for our ninja. ]
Well, at least this thing doesn't make me choose an alias. [ There's a hint of wry relief in that statement. As she speaks and moves the camera around, it would become apparent that her clothes don't fit her too well--they're pretty loose. And somewhat tattered.
Especially the trailing ends of what appears to be a huge pink bow sneaking out from under her dark purple jacket--which is still closed up despite the heat. ]
Hello, everyone! My name is Sheena Fujibayashi, and I just arrived here! What was that thing, anyway? There wasn't anything like that where I was last, though it kinda looked like an EC. [ Yep, has no idea what a bus is, but can handle the jPad like a pro. ] I'm not too sure about what exactly is going on, but I guess I have a farm now?
[ And she'll just point over her shoulder. ]
I've never run a farm--though I did help with the herb patches back in Mizuho! So, I can definitely grow plants. [ She's kind of wistful about that--like she hasn't seen a plant for a long time. ] I'm not sure where to start, though. Any advice?
[ She starts thanking everyone but stops. ]
Oh. One more thing. I guess we can leave any time? But do you know if we go back home or to the very last place we were?
Thanks!
[ And the feed ends. ]

[She paused and pondered over the last question.]
I have yet to try your last question, so I honestly do not know and I apologize for that.
video;
Yeah, it's been a while, so that sounds familiar. Is there a list of things that are in season? I'm more used to herbs than anything else.
[ A beat. ]
Are there herbs here?
[ Then she's shaking her head and giving her a sincere smile. ]
That's okay! You don't have to apologize.
video;
[She paused, if only for a moment.]
I don't see why there wouldn't be, honestly.
video;
That would be great! [ She looks around. ] What season is this?
It feels like Summer; is that right?
[ Forgive her. She hasn't seen a season in real life for several months. ]
Oh good! Herbs are used for a lot of things back home, and I know more about them than anything else. [ She chuckles. ] That's not going to stop me from growing food, though!
[ She and others have to eat, right? ]
video;
[She nodded happily. She was enjoying talking things like this with someone.]
So you know a lot about herbs, I would love to hear what you know.

I heard the buses that go outbound to take you home were broken down at the moment, but they're working on it. For now, you have to stay here for a while until they get that issue fixed!
Anyway, the first thing you may want to do is clear away the rocks, cut the weeds, and get rid of the dead logs. You can find the tools in the tool shed or get tools from the Jojamart or the blacksmith. Likewise, you can find seeds at the Jojamart in town too, to help you get started.
My name is Abel, by the way. Father Abel Nightroad. Just your humble priest. I had been here for a while, trying to figure out the ropes of farming. It looks hard at first, but if you enjoy growing and watering plants, you might grow to like it.
video;
"Buses"? Is that what those things are called? I'd never been in one before. And they're broken...[ She sighs heavily in disappointment before looking around. ] I'm not exactly happy that I'm not back home again, but if I had to choose where to be, this place would be it.
[ She turns as he speaks, making mental notes of what he's saying, and lets out a low whistle. She really should have taken stock of the place before she got on the air.
Turning back, she looks troubled. ]
That's a lot of stuff to do... Don't get me wrong; I don't mind hard work. I'm just not sure I can do it by myself. [ She suddenly brightens. ] Doesn't mean I'm not going to try, though!
And Jojamart? And there's a blacksmith?! [ Yeah, she's happier about the second than the first. What do you expect from a ninja? ]
Nice to meet you, Abel. Or should I call you Father? As I said, my name's Sheena. And I'm a ninja. [ Chief of her village, to be exact, but she doesn't really announce that unless pressed. ] And I do like growing plants--I just haven't seen one in a while.
But, if you still need help, I'm sure everything will come back to me.
video;
Erm, yes. That's what they're called. They're large vehicles meant to transport a lot of people from one place to another. There are people that came from different worlds, they came here the same way on the bus. But yes, they're broken down so if we ever wanted to return to our world, we're stuck on this one for a while until they get it fixed.
Now, it's not so bad living here. It tends to get quiet and this place is peaceful and safe. If you don't know about farming, it's possible to get a job or even opening up a store to make income in the meanwhile to tide you over.
[He listens and then.]
Yes, it's overwhelming and a long process at first. It's hard work. It took me two weeks to clear my land all by myself without anyone's help. Some people didn't know how to do it, and some simply hired some helped from the locals to help. Which I did eventually to help speed up the clearing of my land.
Oh a ninja? I never met one before...you're the first. I'm a priest, a clergyman. The Father is just a title only, so I have no children. Um, if you're from a different world, my role and function is a religious one, and I offer spiritual advice to the locals here. Though I'm not terribly religious and I will not impose my God from my world on your God and Goddess. In fact, I like the Harvest God and Goddess here, and I encourage people to pray to them and give them offerings.
I'm pretty good, and I'm settled. I'm just wondering if you're the one who need help since you arrived. Should I come over to your farm lot and show you? It's okay if you don't know where to start.
Unless you have something in mind for what you wanted to do first, I think the first thing is to check your house first since you will want a place to stay for the night.
video;
They remind me of the Elemental Cargos we have back on my world. They're usually used for transporting packages, but we used one as a boat one time. [ She pauses, her eyes widening. ] So, there are people from other worlds here, too? What world are you from Abel? [ She's not guessing he's not from around here--just going by some of the things he's said. ] I'm from Tethe'alla. [ Actually,what her home world is called is a bit complicated, but let's go with that.
She looks around, taking in the scenery and smiling as a slight breeze rustles a few leaves and blades of grass. ]
I think I'll like this kind of quiet. It's a peaceful silence--not a foreboding one that puts you on edge and robs you of sleep. [ An idea occurs to her, and she nods to herself, a decision made--even as she takes in the rest of his comment about the farm. She's quiet a moment as she thinks. ] Hiring locals? I'll keep that in mind, but I want to try doing it myself first. It's more of a reward that way.
[ But she's stubborn, and might need reminding to get help once in a while.
And suddenly, she's beaming. ]
Never met a ninja before? Well, now you can say you have! A ninja from Mizuho trained in the Igaguri style. That's my Grandpa! [ She's proud of the man, and a quiet wistfulness enters her voice over missing him, but she doesn't elaborate. ] Yeah, we have priests on my world, too! And a Pope! Do you have one on yours?
[ And Abel, you just scored big, BIG points with Sheena by not imposing your beliefs on others and by accepting things that are different. ]
Harvest God and Goddess, huh? I'd like to hear more about them--if you don't mind and have the time.
[ Once again, she turns and takes another--longer--look at the state of her farm. She wants to start anywhere and everywhere at the same time. No, it's better to get some advice from someone who's been in her shoes. Turning back, she nods. ]
Thank you, Abel. I'd appreciate that. In fact, I'll make you dinner-- Oh huh. Guess not... [ She chuckles sheepishly as she looks at her house. ] I haven't been in there, but I doubt there's anything to eat. So I'll make it up to you later. As for a place to sleep...
What's it like around here at night?

It's nice to meet you, Sheena! I'm Jeb. By 'that thing' you mean what you arrived on, right? That's a bus.
[There's no tone of judgment in his voice. He knows the various worlds are vastly different from one another in terms of technology.]
[video]
Nice to meet you, too, Jeb! Yeah. That box with the windows. Someone else called it a "bus", too. It kind of reminds me of an EC--but with windows.
[ She doesn't judge, either. She's surprised and awed, yes, but she doesn't judge. ]
[video]
As for me, I'm not sure I've heard of this EC you keep mentioning, and I can't help but be curious. What is it?
[video]
Oh, an EC? That's short for Elemental Cargo. Back home, they use the mana in the air to usually move across land to deliver packages. We used one fueled by Undine as a boat once so we could travel the world.
Then we got Rheairds and we could fly around the world.
[ But she has no idea what a bus is... ]

During their travels, Mithos had never really gotten all that close to Sheena, but he'd grown fond enough that seeing her on the video feed is enough to make him feel incredibly guilty.
He contemplates not responding. He's met with people he's betrayed after the fact (Genis) back in Zelore and had it go well, but somehow he's sure Sheena's bound to be far less forgiving. ...if she's even in the Sheena from his world. It's highly doubtful that she is. It's much more likely that she's from one of the many realities where he's the leader of Cruxis. It would be wise to not respond.
...he can't bring himself to ignore her entirely. Damnit.]
So, you're here too. [His tone is cold. Cautious. ...hilarious, for him to be cautious toward her, when she's the one who has more of a right than he.]
[video]
Mithos?!
[ And that's all she says for the moment--her deepening surprise rendering her quiet. Why is Mithos being cautious? Wary? The Leader of Cruxis she remembers wouldn't have behaved like that. Where's the arrogance? The gloating and goading?
Nowhere to be found.
Surprise turns into confusion until--thanks to recent experiences on a planet called Earth--finally coalescing into one plausible and unbelievable thought:
This isn't the Mithos she remembers.
Still, that doesn't keep her from also being cautious when she eventually responds. ]
Yes, I am. How long have you been here?
[video]
[He's trying his hardest to build up an imperial air as he speaks to her, but something about it falls flat. Even if her reaction is enough to tell him that she's likely not the Sheena he knows, he can't bring himself to be overly cruel.
He just can't bring himself to be overly kind, either.]
[video]
Which might not be true on his end, but is true on hers.
Still, she instinctively reacts not to his tone, but to his words--surprising herself because she's not feeling any fear right now. Because what's he going to do? Kill her?
Been there. Done that. A few times. ]
Just someone who's curious and asked a simple question. Is that a problem?

And yes, we can go home, at the end of the summer. The Busses will run by then on the way back out from last I checked.
video
Yeah, I'm going to start with herbs. Someone mentioned that I can get seeds from a market here. Do you know if they carry those types of seeds? And Apple and Pear Trees? [ You have just become Sheena's new best friend. ] It's been so long since I've had those. [ Impish, but friendly, grin. ] If you ever need help, just let me know. [ *wink wink* ]
At the end of Summer? Is that how long it'll take to fix the buses because I was told they weren't working.
[ She's getting suspicious now. ]
Re: video
That's right, the market carries a lot of seeds, and I'm sure you can find some. The pears will be ready in a few weeks thankfully, whoever planted them before my arrival was sure to keep the orchard well tended.
I spoke to a lady who was here at the beginning of all of this and she said that's what they told her. That the bus would be fixed so it's not a one-way travel for the time being.
video
Really? That's good, because herbs help with healing where I'm from--besides being nice to add to food! Speaking of which, I'm going to have to figure out what food to grow, too, aren't I? [ She laughs sheepishly, before perking up at the fruit timeline. ]
A few weeks? Would you mind if I bought some apples and pears from you? [ A slight blush. ] I kinda like sweets and cooking things once in a while. And if you need any help, I'll be happy to come over.
That's what they told her? [ She's a little suspicious, but not as much as she might have been. After all, she's not where she was just a day ago--and that was supposed to be permanent.
She chuckles good-naturedly. ]
Well, there's really only one way to find out, isn't there?

[She's just glad to have more people from home! Even if she doesn't really know her, exactly.]
Oh, and since I see you've already spoken to him, don't worry about my little brother. I can assure you he's going to be on his best behavior while we're here.
[Video]
Uhhh, yeah. Hello.
[ History? They have a history? Well, she guesses they do--just not the way people usually do. ]
Yeah, I've spoken to Mithos. And I believe you that I don't have to worry about him. [ Well, not in that way, but she's Sheena. If something happens to him...yeah, she'll protect him. ]
How long have you been here?
[Video]
That's wonderful. I hope all your friends will be as easy to convince should they show up. [And hey, she wouldn't actually object to that. A lot of those poor kids could use a vacation somewhere like this.]
A little over a month? Long enough to get my orchard started, not long enough to really have it actively going. But I'm a patient woman!
[Video]
I think most of them would be. [ Except Zelos. She might have to sit on him if he shows up. ]
Only a month, and you have your orchard already started? What kind do you have? Someone else I spoke to has Apples and Pears.
[ Sheena's a ninja, who are supposed to be patient, but not her. Maybe she can learn that here. Maybe. ]
