[action/log/thing] first day here
Who: First scenario is Ray and Zack only, but the second is Ray and whoever runs across her!
What: Ray arrives at an odd hour, gets brought home, and then does some exploring. Also, one of the buses has lost part of its roof. Whoops.
[1. Arriving]
[The town is asleep when this bus screeches to a stop a few feet away from the actual bus stop. Yes, screeches, and it's clear why at a glance: there's a hole in the roof, as if something crashed through with great force.
The agitated driver exits, carrying what looks like a silvery package. Once they put it down though, it's obvious that it's not a package - just a small, worryingly pale girl with pale blonde hair and a white coat. The driver looks even more agitated as they shout concerns at the tiny thing.
People are not around to see how the girl doesn't react, nor how it unnerves the driver so badly they climb back into the bus and make a U-turn without even looking for anyone at the stop.
Rachel just stands there, like a tiny, discarded doll, and nobody is there. Nobody decent, anyway.
So that, of course, means...]
[2. Exploring]
[Decent people will probably run into Ray wandering around town, not much worse for wear despite her weird arrival. She's mostly on the edges of town, in the less populated areas. The woods, for instance, or the edges of other farms. She might be near the stores and whatnot, but not often.
For such a tiny teenager, her eyes are surprisingly dead-looking. There's no emotion on her face, and it's probably a little unnerving to see!
Maybe it's for the best that she shies away from the more populated areas. She's only trying to familiarize herself with the layout, after all; she's not actively trying to spook people by wandering around and being herself in their midst.]

[Thankfully, though, Ray does have functioning brain cells. Even if she doesn’t know, she can-]
But...if there are books on how to, then I can learn. Is that okay?

[Still, she does know how to read;his sigh comes out less annoyed and more resigned.]
...yeah, you can. And I'll do my part too, in case you get stuck on something.
[3, 2, 1- aaaand here it is! Honestly, Zack's place doesn't look too great coming up the path to the house. Weeds growing everywhere, rocks abound, a shabby shack beside; the inside doesn't look too great either as Zack lightly kicks the door open. It's not too much, but there's trash everywhere, with apple cores and bags of dirty chip bags strewn about.
But...they're here. In a world completely different from their own, yet offering some sort of peace at the same time (no matter how much Zack may complain about it) without the threat of any traps and the other floor masters. It's odd, but a life here can be managed somehow for the time being. For however long they'll be allowed to stay here until another opportunity to leave comes.]

She can do that.
That last statement, though? She actually smiles just a bit. It's a hollow thing, but it's there. (Has anyone offered to help this kid before...?)]
Mm. I'll do my best. Thank you.
