[He'd left notes for Undertaker and his father, and for Sebastian. Though the trip to drop off that second note had ended with a miserable, and very sniffly retreat, from the demons farm. Basically, he just let them know that he was going to look into the mines and he'd be fine.

With the money converted from what he had back in Riverview, he purchased a sabre and hung it from his waist. It's heavier than the foil he'd used during his fencing lessons but he's sure enough of himself that he doesn't ask for anything lighter. And, even though he's no noble here and dresses far more comfortably, he still holds himself like one as he walks through town to purchase the weapon and then head to the mine.

Inside, he does wish he were a little better prepared. It's darker than he's used to and he's not very handy with a pick. Not that he'd brought one, he really had only meant to have a look. But, by sheer luck, he finds himself a few levels in and...

on an infested floor of the mine. And too tired to really fight his way back.]

I was wrong, I can't handle it. This section is brimming with monsters.

[Ciel can be seen, very clearly in the mines. He's managed to find a quiet and relatively safe corner and, thankfully, seems otherwise unharmed.]

[To judge from the way the terrain behind him blurs and how the whole image shakes rhythmically, Chen can apparently run surprisingly fast for a guy his size (and shape).]

Ciel just stares for a moment, more stunned by the person on the screen than his situation. He's sure Lau would be amazed by the sight. But then he finally snaps out of his fascination.]

I'm... maybe three or four floors in?

No. Aside from all the slimes, it was a relatively straightforward path.

[Sebastian didn't discover the note until late afternoon close to lunch. Apparently, the Young Master left the note where the butler didn't think of finding it until he began dusting and cleaning around the house.

My lord? Where are you? If you were planning for an adventure, you could at least notified me and I can have you prepared.

[If his Young Master is determined to do things on his own...]

And it's almost lunchtime. I have it all prepared already so if you didn't have anything to eat since this morning, I have it all ready.

[Assuming some of the local folks already rescued him out of the mines, his butler is coming to pick him up at least to wrap up day of the Young Master's misadventures.]

[Oh... oops? He'd thought he had left it somewhere noticeable. In the future, he'd have to be more careful. If he was left to his own devices after this and given the chance to wander off.]

A few floors into the mines. I bought a sabre, I had thought it enough but... [sigh] Slimes are faster than I'd imagined they would be.

[He might be pouting. Just a little.]

[From the butler's point of view, he was thinking his Young Master is feeling adventurous and go outside to stretch out and exercise.]

Was it just slimes? [There's a chuckle.] Those monsters quite weak, but they are energetic creatures, so they can be quite a contender. And you fought them alone? How brave of you.

All right. I'm coming for you right now.

[And here's Sebastian going to the mines, looking for him inside the caverns. It wouldn't take long for Sebastian to find him.]

There you are. Are you hurt or injured anywhere?

[While he had been okay with the thought of Ciel going off into the mountains on his own, the sight of the boy, so clear now through the phone's screen in his hand, in trouble is far less reassuring. He doesn't even bother with a notice - one step and he's already there, and the darkness doesn't bother him at all.]

[He's glad someone, at least, trusted him to try it all on his own. Even more, he's glad he's being rescued. By several people at this rate but it's a rescue. And probably because he's still so young.]

I'm here. [He peeks out from behind a corner and a cart.]

[Well, now that he's established the Earl isn't hurt or in any real danger, short of being lost, he can relax a little. He lets his head tilt just a bit.]

My lord. Whatever are you doing in a place like this, all on your own?

[With so many people coming to help him, he can't help but feel maybe a little bit useless. In some ways. In others, if people are helping me, maybe he's not so useless as he feels.

The still bitter part of his mind insists it's just general kindness but he won't refuse it if it is.]

[News travel quickly on the network that the priest simply can't ignore the distress call! Something about a child being trapped in the mines, so he rushed over to investigate!

Except the pacifist priest doesn't believe in violence and didn't want to pull out his gun to kill these creatures and let them bite the bullet. There's a group of slimes clamored about on the floors that just ruined his new coat with slime.]

Ahh! Get away from me you vile things! And I just washed this robe this morning too!

[He will have to just...have to kick one away from him. But Abel is determined not to make a kill.

Turning to Ciel.]

[He might have a small grin on his face, watching the figure of the priest coming closer to investigate, and the slimes that got a little too friendly with him along the way.]

You're sure you don't need a little help there yourself? They're rather benign from a distance, but if they spot you, they're likely to want a close up.
