Who: Hideaki Kobayakawa, Scarlet Noire, and you!
What: The grand opening of Ujou-nabe Magu Magu Delight!
Where: Seagull Village, at a tiny little shop only recently done up and painted over in all red and black.
When: The entire day of July 30th.

[The advertising hasn't been the greatest, but Hideaki's not exaaactly doing this for super profit. Anyway, he figures that having quality food will get him all the customers he'd need, right? And he even has a really cool employee to help with customer-wrangling and anything he couldn't quite do, so it'll all be fine, right?

If anyone's been in either Seagull Village or Pelican Town over the past day or two, though...They might have seen the fliers plastered all over. And if not, well...It's hard to miss now. Everyone gets one in the snail mail the day before the grand opening! (And just pretend that the fliers have the address of the destination on the back, I've been fighting with GIMP for hours now.) The point is that Hideaki's done a little more work than he might for literally any other cause, because this is his dream!

And when the day comes...He's standing out of the front of his little shop, in full armour to paint a memorable figure and match his colour scheme. His shrill voice isn't easy to miss if you're at all in the village, and he's handing out menus to anyone who walks past. To be fair to how obnoxious he is...The smell of his stocks and various ingredients being cooked is pretty damn good. Hideaki isn't smart or very likeable, but damn if that boy doesn't know how to cook. If the voice is too much, however, he does have to duck back inside after a little while and focus on prepping more ingredients. Hey, maybe you'll get to deal with Scarlet instead!  She's infinitely preferable to talk to than a shrieking teenager, really. Looks better in reds, too.

Thankfully, there's also a table full of small bowls, and those bowls are full of oden samples to try and lure in the hungry masses! Feel free to have a mouthful (for that's all the samples add up to), come inside and take a seat, or just bring your friends along to see what the fuss is about.

1. Welcome to the Farm

For all that I was talking about settling down and growing some crops, I am not entirely certain I meant it.

[Chen regards the quaint farm, with its open fields and run-down greenhouse, from the fence gate -- one hand on his hip, the other still supporting the long staff he has slung over one shoulder, using its length as a lever to keep his massive keg upright.]

[Honestly, at his size, girth, and species, he can't help but stand out as something out of the ordinary.]

[At last he ventures on forward, taking the first step onto his new home.]

...Li Li would laugh at me, and then be bored. [That sentiment certainly brings a smile to his face.]

2. In Starhue Valley, Bear Welcome You!

[In a situation like this, there is only one thing to do: greet the neighbors!]

[So Chen sets out on a circuit around his farm and winding his way to every point of interest around, looking for people to say hello to. Out on the road? He's pacing his way over with a friendly hello. At home? Someone's knocking on your door! Out in your field hard at work? He's cheerfully vaulting the fence to approach.]

[...honestly that last one might be a little impressive.]

[Nanu's been procrastinating on this for a while but eventually decides to show his beautiful frowning mug to the network. If you met him during the Stardrop Festival you'll notice the black cat ears he was sporting are now long gone. He appears to be in a small office but the windows and more couch-styled seating also suggest a trailer.]

Before everyone gets too comfortable here I guess I should address something. No doubt you've become acquainted with the local wildlife. Some of them are actually Pokemon.

You see this? [He holds up a small orange tabby kitten by the scruff of the neck. It mewls adorably.] Not a Pokemon.

[He sets the kitten down gently then steps aside to reveal a large cougar-sized gray feline standing at his side--his Persian.] This one's a Pokemon. [Persian's version of an adorable mewl comes out more like a raspy growling Perhh-nyaaawl~!]

Some are dangerous. Some are tame. The difference between these guys and the monsters in the mountains are that Pokemon can be captured in these. [He tosses a small red and white sphere in his hand up and down, and shows it can be enlarged to about baseball size with a press of a button.] That Jojamart place seems to carry Pokeballs.

You can train Pokemon and battle with them. Breed them too, if you're into that. They lay eggs. Don't eat them. That's weird.

[He sighs, like talking this much was exhausting or he's already predicting his breath is going to be wasted to some degree. Whatever. Now he can say it's done. If anyone has questions they'll ask. Hopefully not him. He wasn't the only Pokemon trainer around here.]

That's all.

[This can also be a general bother-Nanu mingle. He honestly doesn't keep much of a schedule, running into him is going to mostly be by chance. He frequently taking naps during the day and obliging insomnia at night. Dark-types, you know? A lot of them are nocturnal, that's just how it is. He's an officer so he prowls the borders of the forests, often at night, often with one of his Pokemon out, looking for trouble and usually not finding it. Maybe this could be the night he does!

If he's not out and about, more reliably he can be found at the bar of the saloon, nursing a drink or a smoke. Or he can sometimes be found fishing; rivers, ocean, wherever there's things that make for good sushi.

Alternatively he naps. Like. A lot. Especially during the heat of the afternoon. His living quarters are not terribly well insulated so sometimes it's more practical to just hunker down in the shade of a tree somewhere and doze the hours away. Or in a shaded hay-pile. Hopefully it's not yours. Or on that bench. Or a shaded spot on the beach. Did you want that spot? Too bad, he's there, and very very comfortable.]

[It’s morning. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and there are two new arrivals around town who seem convinced that something very suspicious is going on here. Dressed in what can only be described as tactical gear, they’re clearly some kind of military, and appear to be acting accordingly. In a situation like this, the best course of action is obviously to fall back on instinct in an attempt to get to the bottom of whatever this is supposed to be. For these two, that means proceeding with caution.

Clearly there’s nothing questionable about two men carrying big guns through farms and fields, speaking to each other quietly as if to keep from being overheard. Keeping together, never straying far from the other, or lingering too long in a single area. Not at all questionable, or scary, or yeah no what are these two idiots doing.

They’re doing recon, of course! And they’re fairly thorough about it, methodically searching, poking around, overturning anything that looks questionable and possibly pointing guns at it. Was that thing yours? Sorry, it’s being inspected now. Do you live in this house? No problem, they’re just going to check around back. See or experience anything strange during your stay? No? Are you sure?

Or maybe you just come across them while going about your business. They’re obviously friendly with each other, even if they’re regarding everything else with some degree of wariness. It seems like a great idea to approach, if only to ask what the heck they think they’re doing.
