STARDROP CELEBRATION: FINAL DAY

LET'S PARTY!
premise | rules | taken | pick-up
A. Arrivals and Much More
You’re here because you were dropped somewhere that tried sending you home, or you're someone with a call to the heart to explore the vast universe. The buses run at odd schedules, so please pardon any interruptions! I hope you fellas make yourselves at home, here!
[ Marjorie’s whole speech rings through your ears as you begin to explore the area. It seems a few people who arrived on the TDM have already been here for a week, but you’re just a newcomer. So where are you when this all went down? Are you trying to get back on a bus that’ll take you home, or…?
B. Home Sweet Home
[ The dust has settled on the bus ride here, and you can’t help but notice that your farmland… well, it’s a mess. Rocks and grass everywhere, no matter which layout you were set with. You were given a set of tools, and the message that this land is yours to shape or change or build on no matter what you want, so long as it’s yours. The little crate by the edge of the house is what will hold your bounties from farming, collected nightly with money delivered to your mailbox the following day, like some kind of Produce Fairy visited.
The house is in alright shape. It’s not brilliant, but it has a kitchen, a bathroom, and a studio bedroom where all your belongings can be. It’s wide enough to accommodate several things until you upgrade it.
Sometimes you see a stray dog or cat at the edge of your property. Do you adopt it?
Anyway, it’s time to make what you will of your farm. ]

The Stardrop Celebration!
C. Food Stalls
[ Surrounding the entire property are dozens of food stalls, from all around the universe. Marjorie bussed in caterers from all around with a healthy sum of gold, and they’re happy to sell their wares in this strange place tonight. Where you might find octopus balls, you’ll also find kraken balls. Where you might find corndogs, you’ll find dogs selling corn.
It’s a veritable buffet! And the gold you’ve started with is more than enough to go shopping for food. Have fun! ]
D. Games
[ All manners of Carnival Games are set up! From throwing a baseball at bottles to catching goldfish with a paper net, everything you can dream of is here. There are even some unorthodox games, like dance-offs, karaoke, and a little bit of everything. Apparently, the NPC couldn’t choose who to go with what. It definitely makes for a big festival.
In addition to the above, there’s water gun races, squeaky duck ponds, skee-ball, target shooting, test your strength with a hammer, pitching speed, shooting hoops… and more! ]
E. Three-legged Race
[ You didn’t think this festival was going to go by without tomfoolery, did you? For the prize of 1,000 Gold, you can rally up a partner and get tied to them by the ankle, participating in a no-rules no-bars-held race. The winners will be randomized! But the real gift is going to be the fact that the ties around your ankles? Aren’t coming undone. You’re going to have to be tied together until 11 PM! ]
F. Fireworks
[ Errant magic and mishaps aside, you have to admit, the fireworks show at the end of it all is really something. Marjorie hired a pony for them, and the lights are as ethereal as they are non-traditional. It’s a good moment to snuggle up to someone or enjoy company with a new friend. ]
G. Wildcard
[ Exactly what it says! Make your own prompt. ]
[ OOC; Hello, everyone! This community is L I V E, from now on, you can make both network and action posts on this community, as well as use the notice board pinned to the top of the community! People who want to keep their CR from the test drive; you may! Your characters just arrived a little earlier than others! ]

He overhears Kojuro mention sake -- while he's never tasted any, his grandma had said many good things about it. He turns his head towards the older man and grins, lifting the bottle he's holding in some sort of odd greeting. ]
I WAS JUST ABOUT TO LINK THIS TOP LEVEL TO YOU hghdsjkh
Shit, someone heard him talking to himself, that's just the best thing ever? But it was benign at least, and...The someone (can't be older than Masamune, surely) seems rather amused by it all at least, so he just...
Raises his apple in a returned toast. It's all he has. Don't mind that he's turning as red as the toffee because real samurai don't talk to themselves, he's friendly, promise!]
I take it you're a fan as well? Of sake that is, not of candy apples.
no subject
[ He glances at Kojuro’s apple. Is that what’s causing his somber mood? ] Do you want me to get you a beer?
no subject
[The apple gets pointed at Theo-- well more half-pointed, since Kojuro catches himself halfway and takes a bite of said stick-treat to calm his farm.]
...I have not had beer before, however. So perhaps we are on even footing with our drinking habits. But really, to not be able to make sake...All you require to make it is rice and a way of removing the bran from it, as well as the ability to ferment. Clearly I will have to see if I can grow rice and learn to ferment, so that you can take some home for your grandmother.
[Going by the way he stands up, carefully tucking his goldfish into his half-open yukata and fixing his tied-back sleeve, that's apparently Kojurese for 'Yes Please I Would Kill For Something To Kill The Homesickness'.]
no subject
[ His amused expression becomes even more pronounced at Kojuro's plan. ] Well, now. First, you flatter her, then you plan to make her some sake. Grandma Ceci will love you. [ A beat. ] But that's a good plan. I think it's the rice that we have a problem with, though.
[ Despite what he's said about the beer, he finishes the rest of his bottle easily and tosses it into the nearby trash bin. ]
ooc: hi kojuro he's getting himself in trouble already lol oh and if kojuro ends up hanging out in the tavern he'll definitely meet theo's grandma... who's currently not much older than the kid XD
no subject
Unfortunately for your grandmother, I'm already taken by my work. But that doesn't keep a man for appreciating a woman with fine taste for the better things in life now, does it? Nor does it keep a man from being disappointed that you haven't been able to appreciate the true versatility of rice. You're really spurring me on into research here.
...Ah. Before we go drinking, I should probably introduce myself. Katakura Kojuro, of Bonten Farm. [And just to wrap things up, he of course bows, but...Not too deeply. Gotta protect the fish so they don't just topple out in a weird, watery orb.]
[ooc: OH MY GOD THEO...I was mulling over tagging into that log but you have convinced me proper now, I'm hauling ass in there once I get all my tags out!]
no subject
Your work? No family? [ A pause as he lets the other man introduce himself. ] You actually work in a farm, where you're from?
[ And that bow. Oh how he loves introductions! He wishes he'd brought his sword so he can do a fancy salute, but it didn't seem to go with the dress code. He straightens, and performs the alternative instead: fist over heart, palm down, with a slight bow of the head. ] Lieutenant Theudhar Boislevesque, sir. New Aquor Infantry Division. [ A beat, then he relaxes. ] But just call me Theo.
no subject
Kojuro watches the simple salute with his head inclined slightly, eyebrows raising just a little. How curious! How fancy! Do all Western militants have to do this? A bow works for everyone, doesn't it...?]
A Lieutenant...Western, but a warrior all the same, correct? A pleasure to meet you, Theo; you would understand as well as I do that work consumes any spare time, I figure. Farming is a hobby more than part of my duties, however...It allows me to keep in mind how hard our citizens work to support us, even as we fight for them.
Besides...Farming is relaxing, when I do it alone. To nurture something, watch it grow and work hard under your care...I find it to touch the heart in a way little else can. [And maybe he's taking his paternal inclinations out on his veggies. Shh. Don't look at him, he's just going to gesture forward to take the heat off of him so that they can go get their drink on.]
no subject
[ Fortunately he takes a hold of himself; or maybe he's just eager to get drinking. ] When you speak of it that way, farming does sound quite interesting. Guess I should use my time here to learn the ropes. Not much farmland in our area, but maybe further north...
So what do you do, exactly, that it takes up so much of your time?
no subject
(He'll get back into rebuilding after war in a second, okay. He's just. The biggest dad. If he had a wallet, it would be full of pictures.)]
I...am my lord's retainer, to put it simply. I must tend to his needs, assist him with tactics, and protect his back. I vowed to be as his lost right eye, so that he would never know any blind spot.
Hittou is only young, but he is formidable, and shows much promise even now. I will exist only to further his successes and help him through his losses. I will ensure that Oshuu knows how its lord lives and breathes to protect its people, by living and b--
Ah. Apologies. No one wishes to hear of something as simple as duty. [He turns red so swiftly and thoroughly that even the tips of his ears are burning up, and busies himself with trying to fix his yukata. Don't Judge Him Okay He Loves Masamune So Fucking Much.]
no subject
He looks at Kojuro admiringly, his respect for the older man shooting up a hundredfold.
Then he laughs at the 'simple' comment. ] Duty, simple? I wish.
Have you been in a lot of battles?
no subject
For what it's worth, he's...Grateful, that Theo indulged his prattling on, even for that much. He even smiles, and for a reason not related to Masamune.]
Simple as breathing, most times. But I have years of it ahead of you, and you will find it more of a reflex before long. Just as being in battle, really.
...Which, yes. I've been in a few in my time. Have they always been successful campaigns? No, but I have lived, and we have slowly reduced our casualties as Hittou gained experience and maturity. I find this to be the most important thing.
