You’re here because you were dropped somewhere that tried sending you home, or you're someone with a call to the heart to explore the vast universe. The buses run at odd schedules, so please pardon any interruptions! I hope you fellas make yourselves at home, here!

[ Marjorie’s whole speech rings through your ears as you begin to explore the area. It seems a few people who arrived on the TDM have already been here for a week, but you’re just a newcomer. So where are you when this all went down? Are you trying to get back on a bus that’ll take you home, or…?

B. Home Sweet Home

[ The dust has settled on the bus ride here, and you can’t help but notice that your farmland… well, it’s a mess. Rocks and grass everywhere, no matter which layout you were set with. You were given a set of tools, and the message that this land is yours to shape or change or build on no matter what you want, so long as it’s yours. The little crate by the edge of the house is what will hold your bounties from farming, collected nightly with money delivered to your mailbox the following day, like some kind of Produce Fairy visited.

The house is in alright shape. It’s not brilliant, but it has a kitchen, a bathroom, and a studio bedroom where all your belongings can be. It’s wide enough to accommodate several things until you upgrade it.

Sometimes you see a stray dog or cat at the edge of your property. Do you adopt it?

Anyway, it’s time to make what you will of your farm. ]

FESTIVAL PLAYLIST

[ Down a hill a little ways from Pelican Town is a remarkable festival set-up! Several attractions and vendors line the streets where everything is going down. Where will you go? ]

C. Food Stalls

[ Surrounding the entire property are dozens of food stalls, from all around the universe. Marjorie bussed in caterers from all around with a healthy sum of gold, and they’re happy to sell their wares in this strange place tonight. Where you might find octopus balls, you’ll also find kraken balls. Where you might find corndogs, you’ll find dogs selling corn.

It’s a veritable buffet! And the gold you’ve started with is more than enough to go shopping for food. Have fun! ]

D. Games

[ All manners of Carnival Games are set up! From throwing a baseball at bottles to catching goldfish with a paper net, everything you can dream of is here. There are even some unorthodox games, like dance-offs, karaoke, and a little bit of everything. Apparently, the NPC couldn’t choose who to go with what. It definitely makes for a big festival.

In addition to the above, there’s water gun races, squeaky duck ponds, skee-ball, target shooting, test your strength with a hammer, pitching speed, shooting hoops… and more! ]

E. Three-legged Race

[ You didn’t think this festival was going to go by without tomfoolery, did you? For the prize of 1,000 Gold, you can rally up a partner and get tied to them by the ankle, participating in a no-rules no-bars-held race. The winners will be randomized! But the real gift is going to be the fact that the ties around your ankles? Aren’t coming undone. You’re going to have to be tied together until 11 PM! ]

F. Fireworks

[ Errant magic and mishaps aside, you have to admit, the fireworks show at the end of it all is really something. Marjorie hired a pony for them, and the lights are as ethereal as they are non-traditional. It’s a good moment to snuggle up to someone or enjoy company with a new friend. ]

Thank you for growing them, [Grainne offers a soft smile, just a tiny hint of sadness in it. That's just the way she smiles, unfortunately.] They're lvely. I was just passing through gathering some supplies when I cam on them. Would you like some edible mushrooms or berries?

[A fair exchange for blooms like this!] There's some seeds as well, to grow berries.

You're welcome! [She notices the hint of sadness in the stranger's smile, but decides not to comment on it.] I would love some, thank you. I'd really really appreciate it!

[She smiles wider and take a step closer.]

My name's Faith, by the way. Faith Parmalee!

Grainne. [She's long ago dropped any titles or last names aside from business in London. Modern people are sticklers for last names.] Here you are.

[She rummages around in the bucket for a handkerchief full of berries. Easier to keep them from bruising that way, she thinks. Another one of a particular breed of mushrooms, tasty looking ones that look like they belong in a soup.]

These mushrooms taste a little nutty when you fry them. I pair them with almonds sometimes. Well... they taste like mushrooms I get at home. [She holds out the handkerchief bags for Faith.] The berries are sweet, but I do not think I've had them before.

It's very nice to meet you, Grainne! [She takes the handkerchief bags from her.] I'll be sure to fry the mushrooms and pair them with almonds -- that sounds delicious! As for the berries, I'm sure to like them if they're sweet, heehee...

[A brief pause.]

Is it okay if I ask what your world was like?

[impossibilities]

[The reaction is subtle, but Grainne pulls back ever so slightly. Which one does Faith wish to know about? The one that was destroyed or the one Zo had cloned from it just seconds before its destruction?]

It is a world. People live, and die. There's magic in it. Tis not a particularly bright world.

[She shrugs, rather indifferent on the whole thing.] Other than such considerations, it is a rather average Earth.

Oh, I see... [She laughs a little, sheepish.] Sorry, I'm just really interested in the differences between worlds.

[impossibilities]

Tis nothing to apologize for. I do not like speaking of it that much. [She's just met Faith, and the last time she spoke of it in depth she rather freaked out the poor girl running the Multiverse class. Or was it a support group? Grainne didn't really recall. Dangers of a horror game.] I have noted written works often give a good sense of how a world is different, if that is of interest.

Oh, I see. That's okay! [She doesn't press the issue further. Even if she's curious, she's not going to be rude. Her eyes light back up at the mention of written works being of help.] Yes, that would really be of interest! Do you think any of the worlds out there are like the adventure novels I've read back home?

[Faith. Faith, please.]

[Grainne just tilts her head.]

What makes you think your adventure novels were not based on real worlds? There is always some exchange between universes. Thought and emotion seem to be the only true native travelers of the multiverse.

[That just makes Faith more bright-eyed.]

Really? I've always hoped it worked that way, but I wasn't sure it could be a reality! That's-- that's amazing!

[impossibilities]

[Well, that's an interesting reaction. Perhaps she shouldn't mention meeting Gandalf.]

But... perhaps you should stay with your books. [Grainne sighs.] There are terrible things out there, too. Of all things delightful there are equal, and perhaps worse, of things unspeakable.

While I appreciate the warning, isn't it already too late if I'm here? [It's not meant to be contrary or to disregard what Grainne's saying, she's sincerely pointing that out.] It's probably okay as long as I stay here, right?

[A pause.]

But I appreciate you warning me! It's nice to have someone looking out for me. [As long as they aren't overdoing it...]

I suppose so. Starhue feels benign, I think. [Grainne shrugs. Ultimately it's up to Faith to adventure or not.] If you have your mind set on it,-- [she's about to say preparation might help, but how can you prepare for it, really?]

Knowledge is the first line of defense. [She smiles, relaxing her shoulders a little.] What do you intend to do with your farm? I've not quite decided with mine.

[cinnabonjr]

Knowledge, huh? Then I guess I'll study up to the best of my ability! I'm no stranger to doing that anyway. [She's always been a stickler for studying anyway, all throughout her school years. It isn't changed upon entering college, either.]

As for what I'm going to do with my farm, well~ [She gestures around them.] I think I've gotten a really good start with these flowers! Maybe I'll try to grow some produce, too.

Have you thought of floristry? There is so many flowers. [The flowers are rather good enough to sell, Grainne thinks, sniffing at her bundle.] Bees would be happy to make a home here, for honey.

Oh, that's a wonderful idea! [Faith looks absolutely thrilled.] I can't believe that hadn't crossed my mind, but it's definitely something to consider! I would love for the bees to make a home here, too.

[Honey bees are too cute to be afraid of, in her opinion.]

With such a field of flowers, perhaps you already have some wild ones about? Honey seems a bit expensive here, especially the good deep colored honey.It would be good for the market, as well.

[Grainne's farm is mostly forest, else she might take it up herself.]

Ooh, you have a point! [Faith eagerly nods.] I guess while I'm studying anyway, I can include 'how to gather honey' on my list of what to read up on!

[The girl seems so enthused Grainne can't help but giggle.] Do not forget to rest your eyes every now and then from your book.

Ehehe, of course. It would do no good to make my awful eyesight worse than it already is!

[She's exaggerating a little. Despite the need for glasses, her eyesight is only a little out of sorts. Still, there's no point in jinxing her good luck so far.]

[It's strange but Grainne's never really known anyone that needed glasses before. Studying eyesight issues on the Enterprise most problems had a simple solution.]

Ah? I think I understand. If I read too long, even my eyes strain a little if the text is very small. I prefer things with large print.

Eye strain is the worst... [She lets out an exaggerated whine before giggling.] But yeah, large print can certainly help where that's concerned!
