A. Arrivals and Much More

You’re here because you were dropped somewhere that tried sending you home, or you're someone with a call to the heart to explore the vast universe. The buses run at odd schedules, so please pardon any interruptions! I hope you fellas make yourselves at home, here!

[ Marjorie’s whole speech rings through your ears as you begin to explore the area. It seems a few people who arrived on the TDM have already been here for a week, but you’re just a newcomer. So where are you when this all went down? Are you trying to get back on a bus that’ll take you home, or…?

B. Home Sweet Home

[ The dust has settled on the bus ride here, and you can’t help but notice that your farmland… well, it’s a mess. Rocks and grass everywhere, no matter which layout you were set with. You were given a set of tools, and the message that this land is yours to shape or change or build on no matter what you want, so long as it’s yours. The little crate by the edge of the house is what will hold your bounties from farming, collected nightly with money delivered to your mailbox the following day, like some kind of Produce Fairy visited.

The house is in alright shape. It’s not brilliant, but it has a kitchen, a bathroom, and a studio bedroom where all your belongings can be. It’s wide enough to accommodate several things until you upgrade it.

Sometimes you see a stray dog or cat at the edge of your property. Do you adopt it?

Anyway, it’s time to make what you will of your farm. ]

FESTIVAL PLAYLIST

[ Down a hill a little ways from Pelican Town is a remarkable festival set-up! Several attractions and vendors line the streets where everything is going down. Where will you go? ]

C. Food Stalls

[ Surrounding the entire property are dozens of food stalls, from all around the universe. Marjorie bussed in caterers from all around with a healthy sum of gold, and they’re happy to sell their wares in this strange place tonight. Where you might find octopus balls, you’ll also find kraken balls. Where you might find corndogs, you’ll find dogs selling corn.

It’s a veritable buffet! And the gold you’ve started with is more than enough to go shopping for food. Have fun! ]

D. Games

[ All manners of Carnival Games are set up! From throwing a baseball at bottles to catching goldfish with a paper net, everything you can dream of is here. There are even some unorthodox games, like dance-offs, karaoke, and a little bit of everything. Apparently, the NPC couldn’t choose who to go with what. It definitely makes for a big festival.

In addition to the above, there’s water gun races, squeaky duck ponds, skee-ball, target shooting, test your strength with a hammer, pitching speed, shooting hoops… and more! ]

E. Three-legged Race

[ You didn’t think this festival was going to go by without tomfoolery, did you? For the prize of 1,000 Gold, you can rally up a partner and get tied to them by the ankle, participating in a no-rules no-bars-held race. The winners will be randomized! But the real gift is going to be the fact that the ties around your ankles? Aren’t coming undone. You’re going to have to be tied together until 11 PM! ]

F. Fireworks

[ Errant magic and mishaps aside, you have to admit, the fireworks show at the end of it all is really something. Marjorie hired a pony for them, and the lights are as ethereal as they are non-traditional. It’s a good moment to snuggle up to someone or enjoy company with a new friend. ]

[ You know who's between games herself? Bolormaa, and her summoned Carbuncle. But... uh... she's staring at the Pokemon.

Adorable! What manner of creature is that one!? Is it native to your shard, or this one?!

[Noct startles at the sudden gushing, the prince looking over and going still at the sight of the creature with Bolormaa because that..what--]

Carbuncle?

[Beside him, perched on the counter of the ring toss game, Moogle beamed at the attention and bounced from one foot to the other. He flipped the ring he was holding around and hopped through it then spun it around his paw, putting on a bit of a show like the little clown he was.

Wait, native to my shard? What does that even mean?

Ah-- sorry. [ Bolormaa said, as she got out her grimoire. Wait, this man knew about Carbuncle. That mattered more - as her summon approached Noctis, with a few soft squeaks. ]

A Shard is simply what my land calls a... I think they were called worlds? At least, those close enough for travel. I'm-- not too experienced with this, I must admit. But yours-- has Carbuncle?

[ She is scribbling something down, quickly. ]

[He glances at the book then to Carbuncle, easily distracted by the semi-familiar creature as he kneels down and holds a hand out.]

Yeah it--he was my guardian when I was younger. He looked after me whenever I needed him, helped me after..an accident.

[The similarities were there but he could also tell how different this Carbuncle was from his.]

So Shards are worlds where you come from? You have multiple worlds?

Oh-- this Carbuncle isn't like that, though he's a good friend. Um, I could show you how to summon one! [ Yes, Bolormaa knows she doesn't have more Arcanist tomes, but she can help! After all, she's still cooing at Moogle. But the Carbuncle gives a small blep! She won't ask about that accident... listen, she tries not to be rude. far better then materia ]

Yes, we do! There's, um, 13 Shards in our iteration - that's a bundle of worlds. I never asked why the Mothercrystal called them that... does yours not have that, Ser?

You can just summon them at will? Is that something anyone can do? [Okay he's a little blown away by this. The idea of it is just kind of crazy since he comes from a place where only certain people have access to magic-based abilities at all.

Moogle is absolutely delighted with the attention and twills his praise at Bolormaa, hop-skipping over to investigate Carbuncle a moment later.]

No, we have different countries but they're all apart of the same world...that's amazing.

We have states and countries, as well... even if I've not been to many of them.

[ But now, Bolormaa gets out her special quill. And scribbles down a spell, and the Carbuncle shifts... to what looks like a smaller, more adorable, Titan - who continues to squeak like a Carbuncle. ] While Arcanist magic can be taught to everybody, mine is... special. But anybody can get a Carbuncle! Even if they won't listen to everybody... and that's not the only class of magic. There's also White and Black, and I think Scholars use their own... and Time Magic, as well... would what Minor Races use be called magic...?

[ oh no she's rambling. And got herself distracted, before nodding again. ]

Only pure-blooded Garleans can't use magic of any form - ah, people from the country of Garlemald. Um, because of their third eye. It sort of looks like a crystal, on their forehead?

[Noctis visibly startles at the sudden change in the Carbuncle--not a bad startling just surprise. Genuine surprise. He can't help but reach out again, hesitantly touching the little thing's head.]

So the different colors pertain to different magic types?

[Weird. Now he was curious if the Carbuncle he knew was specific to a certain type of magic or not. He'd never thought to ask the little guy.]

Where I'm from, only the line of Lucis can use the power of the Crystal which gives us abilities. There's also the blood of the Oracle that can bestow power but outside of that not many can use any sort of 'magic'. At least not without help.

Yes, they do! [ She says, excited. ] With Carbuncle, however, their colours are more associated with what they do for people, and the gems they're crafted out of. Mine is, um, made from the Mothercrystal.

[ But she looks more excited - though she's trying not to seem too scary! ]

You-- have a Crystal as well?! Ours gives certain Spoken special abilities - such as being immune to the will of false gods, and the ability to understand every language! Some even get more... but it's rare to be Blessed...
