[Wherever you may be—at home on your farm, out and about in town, exploring the wildlife, or perhaps even wandering through the more dangerous areas—someone has come to approach you, seemingly patrolling the area with a confident stride.]
Excuse me. I wanted to inform you that I have assumed the position of Sheriff. My name is Munakata, first name Kyousuke, and I can be contacted under that name at any time if you have issues that require police intervention. If you are capable of taking care of yourself I encourage you to apply for a position under me. We could use greater numbers to enforce order.
[Kyousuke himself is white-haired and imposing, with large snowy owl wings on his back and feathers covering the area where his right eye should be, like so. He is visibly carrying a sword, with another one tucked hidden in his coat in a compact state. He doesn't give off the impression that he's going to be a very easygoing Sheriff... but at least if you're in danger, that might be reassuring?]
Do you have any further questions or suggestions?

[ She echoes him a little blankly, because that really is a statement that could be taken in a lot of ways. Especially with their relationship, and with the last time they "did something" with Mallory.
A second later she coughs, her face pink again. ]
W, we should! Maybe a picnic or something...
no subject
[He didn't not mean the other kind of thing too, though, frankly, and for a fleeting moment he looks like he's been caught. Ahem.]
no subject
[ She saw that! She saw that look on his face! That only makes her think more about the idea herself. What if it was a picnic with something more?! She coughs, glancing to the side. ]
Th-that sounds pretty good to me. Pretty fun, in fact!
no subject
[Maybe if he lampshades it it'll be less awkward. It sure can't get any more obvious, so why not?]
no subject
[ "Maybe." It's pretty clearly yes, she is, and pretty fondly, if her intensifying blush is any indication. ]
W, we should invite Munakata-kun this time, though...
no subject
[But yeah, of course he would. Maera can't even finish that thought. He just cuts off, shaking his head.]
We should. He and Mallory . . . maybe they ought to work that out first, though.
no subject
I told him about it, you know? When -- when "it" happened. With us. But it ended up becoming a conversation about what he thinks he's allowed to do, given... you know...
[ She hesitates on the name, and she feels honestly guilty about that hesitation. It feels disloyal, somehow, to be almost afraid to say the name. ]
You know, everything with Luna... I don't know if he and Mallory ever made up.
no subject
[Even though he's not here. Juzo feels the same little sting, but forces himself through it with a sigh.]
no subject
[ She hesitates a moment, glancing around, then reaches for his hand, squeezing it briefly. ]
It's more about how... ah, you know what he's like, when it comes to us.
no subject
[He squeezes back, keeping his voice down. This isn't something he planned on ever bringing up himself, but he's glad it's out there.]
no subject
[ Now that he's said it, she can admit it too. She can't actually make herself let go of his hand yet, though she keeps her gaze downcast, turned away from him. ]
I never really got much closure with him either. And it's not like there was ever another "me" around either, so... to him, it probably seemed a little like I was taken away from him. [ And they both know how he'd reacted to that before. ] So I think Munakata-kun -- "our" Munakata-kun -- worried more about, if he tried to deepen his relationship with Mallory at the time, would it be like taking him away from Luna...? I don't know.
no subject
[There's a beat where he hesitates, because he's never acknowledged this before, and is now really the time? In semi-public, half on the clock (hey, it can be lunch time), after their cute display of wifely bento-giving? But now's when it's come up, and so now it'll be.]
I felt like that before—you came. To Arden Grove. Like I was taking Munakata away from you while you weren't there to stop me. For Luna, in his own head, he may as well not have been there. And he's not here now. So can I blame any of them for this shitty situation?
no subject
[ It wasn't your fault then, either. But they've talked about it a little before, in her early days at Arden Grove. She knows very well what it's like, to understand something intellectually but still feel off-balance emotionally. ]
But we're the ones who're here now. We'll figure it out! And when [ when, she has to believe when and not if ] Luna comes, we'll figure it out again with him.
no subject
We might have to pass it on to them too if we ever want them to figure it out.
[It's easy to say from their positions, right now. Kyousuke and Mallory are the two who are more embroiled in the complicated emotional situation here.]
no subject
[ There are still places where she knows she's just as shaky and uncertain, after all. It is easier to say and believe that when she isn't directly involved, but at least at this moment, she has the clarity to recognize how it applies to her, too. ]
After all this time, we're still together, and we keep finding each other.
no subject
At least wait until we're in private before you spring saying that kind of thing on me.
no subject
[ She pouts at that. If he wanted to break the softer mood, he's succeeded.
But at what cost-- ]
I could have said a lot worse! It wasn't even lewd.
no subject
And then moreso and differently when she says that.]
That wasn't the issue! You know how shitty I am at this stuff.
no subject
[ She's trying to play innocent with her expression and tone, though there's a waver like she's also trying not to laugh. He's so cute when he's flustered! ]
As far as embarrassing things go, we could all say a lot worse.
no subject
[Sigh. But yeah, he's smiling again. He can't help it around her]
no subject
[ There's a lot of potential innuendo in that statement. He can fill in the blanks however he likes, and it'll probably be right. ]
no subject
[He thinks it. He totally thinks it, but he doesn't want to assume it openly, because she'll tease him if he's wrong, but he knows he's probably right!
So he tries to say it very, very casually, half succeeding.]
no subject
[ She rocks on her heels a little. It's so, so hard to suppress her smile, but she's trying! They are still in public! ]
If you ever wanted some sort of other pick-me-up, or something like that...
no subject
[Of course she'd be into that. . . . He's not even pretending he might not be too. But he has to put up at least a little bit of struggle over something that bold, damn.]
. . . We'd have to talk my boss into it.
[You know, the boss they're both married to. (Practically.)]
no subject
[ She lets her lashes dip low at that, now letting her lips curl into an obvious smirk. ]
It'd be good for you to keep your stress levels down, you know?
