Enter the former Vault Dwellers - Joint Action with [personal profile] warneverchanged - OPEN

The bus ride had been a very interesting one. She still wasn't sure what was going on, but she noticed that she wasn't the only one with a Vault suit and Pip Boy on. Though the other woman's was a different model than her own.

The conversation had started off simply. "Vault 111? I'm from 101." And it went on from there. They discussed the differences in the vaults and the lands around the vaults. They had a lot more in common than she realized at first.

When the bus stopped, the two former vault dwellers climbed off and looked around. The Lone Wanderer was stunned. She had never seen so much green before. Not even Oasis had this much green. At least she didn't have to deal with the Treeminders.

"So...is this what the world looked like before the bombs dropped?" she asked the older woman, still staring at everything. Unlike Nora, she hadn't been born before the war. She had only known life in a vault before she was pretty much evicted and forced into the Capital Wasteland.

[OOC: This is an intro for both The Lone Wanderer and Sole Survivor. Feel free to tag one or both of the women!]

The Bus Stop, honestly, was a place The Courier tended to pass a lot. (Deliveries could be made, and they could hear gossip - and it was a little away from the city.) They still wore their Brotherhood of Steel t51b armour - but had painted a messy 21 on it, like their duster usually had. They were free, but remained trapped by their own fears.

The world was still frightening. But they couldn't help but look at these newcomers, something felt... almost homely, looking at them. Their deliveries could wait, as they approached. "It's pretty pre-war. In both senses of the word."

"Oh, um. I'm not with them," The Courier said, raising their hands - before removing their helmet to show their heavily scarred face. "I just-- well, they have good engineering."

That's the best The Courier can say about them. Even if they work with them, well. They fucked over Veronica, Courier dislikes that. But they can't help but nod at the latter bit. "Even the Strip had some destruction and dirt - but this is beautiful. And there's a lot of it."

It really did. And the Courier was wary about this place.

"Really? I'm from the Mojave Wasteland - well, not from there. Travel a lot across the whole Wasteland. It's a bit of a shithole, but it's home right now."

"G.E.C.K.s? Isn't that was helped fix up Vault City?" The Courier mused a little, before shaking their head.

"None of them here - there's no Brotherhood, nor Enclave. We're safe - just you, me, 'em," they said, gesturing towards the Sole Survivor, "and Yes Man - and he's one of mine. I've been keeping an eye out, though. For others from there."

"...Wait. You dealt with the for-real Enclave, not just some remnants? They're still out there?

Fuck."

"Well, you're not wrong." Nora said, before walking over to look at the person in the power armor. Seemed Brotherhood style, even if a bit different than what she was used to. She was used to these punks though. Hanging out with Danse taught her a few things.

"Which one of you punks is in this shell?" She asked, tapping one of the eye windows on their helmet.

...They pause for a moment, before slipping off the helmet. Looking her over, with a bit of a disapproving look. "This took a lot to repair, you know. Not like the Brotherhood would help me after everything."

But they don't seem to be frowning too much, even with their scar-covered face and single blind eye. Nah, they've got a bit of a smirk. "I'm not one of them. Just got the training."

She snorts, and nods after he takes the helmet off. "Let me guess, you made a decision they didn't like and decided to put you on the shit list?" Not that this happened to her. Ever. At all.

"You know it," they nodded, giving a little knowing look in return. "Just because one of their own wanted to help people, not just their own.

I was on the side of the one who wanted to help people, by the way."

A snort. "Well, that story sounds damn familiar. I was in your place too, fucking Maxson and his xenophobic assholes." But she stops after that. She could rant forever, but won't.

"Never heard of Maxson - but did your end of Brotherhood issues end with you in a damned explosive collar?"

...Actually, they should ask. "...Where are you from?"

[personal profile] warneverchanged 2018-07-06 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
"Commonwealth. Well, Boston and the surrounding area. They call it the commonwealth now, but I knew it before that too." She said with a shrug.

"No explosive collars. One of my friends became their enemy, by no fault of his own really, and by extension, if I was with him, so was I." Fucking Maxson.

"...You don't look like a ghoul," the Courier couldn't help but say, with a frown. Before giving a sigh.

"Yeah. One of their Elders went rogue. It's... bullshit. Then I pissed off their group stuck down in a bunker because one of their own wanted to help outside. Sided with her - how couldn't I?"
warneverchanged: (7)

[personal profile] warneverchanged 2018-07-12 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
"Not a ghoul." A point at the 111 on her back. "Vault dweller... somewhat. It's... a long story that deserves Bobrov's to go with it." She smiles at his next comment though.

"Seems we have a bit in common then."

"I've seen quite a few of those Vaults - so you went though some of that bullshit?" It's said with quite a bit of compassion - even if the Courier wasn't born in one, they're... disgusted at them. "I know where they sell the alcohol around here - my treat."

There's a long, deep sigh. "But they've got all that technology - the Brotherhood, I mean. If only the Followers of the Apocalypse could take it, huh? If-- they have them over your place. Bunch of pacifist idealists - they're mostly good people."

"You may not believe me, but I saw one of the bombs drop." A bitter laugh. "Cryogenic stasis on unknowing subjects." A look over at him for a moment before staring off to the distance. She missed... home. Pre-war home.

"No, only Children of Atom, and they're more bonkers than Raiders on Jet. They think the next 'Divide' will save us all. And worship the radiation that tries to kill us."

[personal profile] shotinhead 2018-07-13 05:52 am (UTC)(link)
"...No. It won't make a new paradise, it'll. I-- listen." The Courier doesn't know how far news spreads, but... they let out a long sigh, letting their voice lower. "I've seen a place only known now as the Divide. Traveled though it.

So those fuckers really are crazy."

[personal profile] warneverchanged 2018-07-16 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh, I know. I saw the before and after of human actions. And I don't think the world could come back from a second." She listened for a moment. "The Divide. I wonder if they're related."
shotinhead: (13)

[personal profile] shotinhead 2018-07-16 05:14 am (UTC)(link)
"Probably. It was... there were unfired nuclear weapons. They were activated - and the Divide was born, a hellscape full of things I'd not wish on my worst enemy. More would have been fired, if not for my interference."
