[ Right. These things can broadcast video and audio - thankfully, the Courier is keeping it on audio, but they're talking into it from near the farm entrances. So can be pestered in-person as well! They've removed their armour for once, and... are short for a Courier. ]
...What food isn't toxic here.
[ After a moment, they decide to add: ] And-- is this really the past?
[ They still don't believe in dimensional travel - but the Courier does think that they could have been sent though time. There's a long amount of silence, before the audio ends. ]

The things that come from seeds they sell in town are all fine. Most of the berries you can forage around here too. It's-- [A pause, air sucked in thoughtfully.] I'd avoid all the mushrooms until someone shows you the ones that won't hit you like a punch.
no subject
[ Well, they goes a little quiet. ] The point is-- the mushrooms might be edible? That's news to me. Let me guess - the glowing ones are right out?

[And, because it's easy:] All the fruit trees are fine too.

[Tim sounds like he might have a hangover.]
[He yawns.]
Or d'you mean like, out of doors? Like berries and shit? I don't remember those rules, man.

[ A beat. ]
One of my robots - a Securitron. Arrived on another bus.

[There's some sounds of sitting up, slapping his face. Another yawn. Okay, now he's more alive.]
One of your robots? That sounds cool. I mean-- I wouldn't miss ours he's annoying as shit but... Lucky to have someone from home.

[ Waking up is hard after sleeping. It's why they barely sleep. But they give a pause. ]
I'm known for bein' lucky, but-- that bot isn't. Has to listen to commands. If anybody fucks with 'em, I'll kill them.
no subject
[Oh man Tim, don't jinx yourself.]
I can't be choosey about it, anyway. Whoever shows up, shows up.

Otherwise, when I get back, they'll think I got into the drinks without 'em. [ Yup, they're making a joke. ]

They'd think we're crazy if we talked about this place right? No one'd believe me either!

[It's been years since Cehd'ra lived in such a wilderness but he'd be confident he could still tell what was safe to eat and what wasn't if not for the whole 'otherworld' business. Speaking of...]
What do you mean 'past'?

...of which era?

I...I don't know that calendar. It probably isn't the same as what's used here anyway.

[Honeybuns? Wait, that's coming from a huge guy with a gun on his arm, balancing a pile of chocobo feed in a box near the farm entrance Courier is hanging around at.]
Other than that, it's pretty easy to determine what food is good for people. if y'all not feeding it to your talking dog, then that's good nuff for you.

...Yet.

[Sniff.]
Ah wish he was here! God [beep] damnit.

[ Wait, what's the opposite of toxic? Is that a good thing? She's not actually sure... eh. Nontoxic is good, right? And she's a good cook; she definitely has confidence with that. ]
And it's the present, the present! Wherever you were before, you're here now.
no subject
[ whoops they are not doing well. ;; ]
That's the problem. This present isn't my present. Not just because I don't have my followers.
no subject
[ It's probably not the same thing as encouraging a picky kid to eat something new, but maybe it's the same principle? Switch up the diet little by little!
But their comment about followers gives her a longer pause. Followers, huh... ]
Mm, well, you could argue about that, I think! It is your present, because here you are! It's just not "home."
no subject
[ They seem a little more comfortable, now - even if their voice doesn't seem that way. ]
The calendars are wrong - by a few century. I wouldn't call that my present.

[ And also, it'll help her get herself a little more known. Cooking is just one of the housekeeper's skills! And if she wants to build her reputation as the Ultimate Housekeeper again, she has to get started somewhere. ]
As for the rest, that's getting pretty philosophical, don't you think? To me, the important part is being in the here and now! That's the "present."
[audio]
[That is the opposite of helpful, Zev.]
[audio]
Let me guess - ones you don't have answers do? Or, well, ones you're not prone to sharing just because I ask. Weird how many people're the opposite.
no subject
Perhaps I have answers, and perhaps I do not. As I said, the question is dependent: firstly, on what you happen to be, and secondly where--or when--you happen to be from.
The second question is less definable. Unless you're from this place's future, the answer is no, you're in another place entirely from whence you were.
[For being so unhelpful, this guy sure likes to hear himself talk.]
