[Log]

Who: Everyone ever!
What: It's drinking time at the locale tavern! Lets make the bar tender love the new arrivals!
When: Evening time.
Other information: One rule to this, everyone must get completely smashed one way or another! Dohko went and just grabbed as many people possible to join in a drinking binge and even if your poor character is there to have one or two drinks. Run away before they get roped into drinking games.

Well, if we can believe what we've been told, you may not even remember being gone! So you won't remember you're out of practice, right? [Silas does sit down, content to meet and chat with new people. He's a social person, yearned for company more than was perhaps proper for his station. His ears bloom wide as he laughs at the comment.]

Come now, I didn't just popped out of the ground. Haven't been to war, but I've seen my share of intense situations.

I mightn't, but my body damn well will! [That's it, he needs more beer. This bottle is (now that he's just gone to empty it) done with! MORE, BARTENDER.] The older I get, the more I have to work--

Fuck.

[He's so tired, and the farming only works for so long to distract him. Please excuse this samurai, Silas; he's just resting his head on the bartop and this is normal and fine and he's not homesick at all.]

I have someone relying on me. I can't let him down, ever. If I do, I'll...My life is the cost. I can't afford to just laugh it off and let my sword hesitate, or he'll die and I'll have nothing left in my life; that's not intense, that's just how it is.

[Silas doesn't want to recommend anything that could put the man in harms way, rather glad he'd be lacking weapons. There was something called a dungeon he'd heard of, warned of monsters there that would fight intruders into the mountain. As a healer, the clinic let him know that most injuries in these parts came from exploring such a place. Silas would rather the man not hazard himself, so he keeps to himself on that.

Besides, it seemed like the man just wanted an ear to his wallowing. Silas is good at that. He drinks his drink and nods along.]

Who is he? Your son? [give the man's age and dedication, that's what would fit by Springtide standards. Familiar bonds, child and parent, are the only kind of love his people would speak openly about. Other love was... improper. The dedication of a parent to their children was admirable and without shame.]

[Yep, absolutely he just wants to bitch and whinge for a little. ...Then maybe plan, but for now? Drunken whinging!

Even pissed as a tick, however...He looks up at Silas, peering with one eye over his elbow as a new bottle gets deposited at his fingertips. Maybe it's the bright colours? Who am I kidding it's the fact that he gets to talk about his son. Just look at his eye crinkle up with a hidden smile, wistful and proud all in one.
] ...Ah...

No blood relation. But I am bound to him, have been at his side since we were both young. We are...As good as family, to one another; those old bastards abandoned him when they thought he couldn't lead Oshuu, and I beat them into a bloody mush.

I would die for Bontenmaru. I'd die if I thought it would benefit him at all, on the spot! On my own blade, if he asked! [And he's literally tried. Crazy bastard.] There is no man who could compare.

[perhaps strangely, that all sounds right to Silas. His people didn't hold much if any care to blood relations, not when it came to parent and child, many married couples adopted. A parent was whoever looked after you and loved you unconditionally, was willing to sacrifice the way this man was describing. They didn't consider that kind of love proper between even married people, who were expected to carry some distance, some higher standard for each other that was very much conditional on maintaining approval.

Your child though, you could love despite their flaws and with reckless abandon, wanting for nothing in return but their best future. Silas nods along knowingly, finding the man's dedication to be that of an ideal. It's almost surreal for him to hear from someone clearly not from his own.]

I understand, he is very lucky to have you for his father. Such dedication is admirable, we should all be so fortunate to have that, but alas... [a little sigh, but it's not bitter, only wistful, playfully envious even.]

[personal profile] righteyed 2018-07-01 11:19 am (UTC)(link)
[Cheers to that bro! Nothing wrong with this love, of course. Nothing wrong with it whatsoever. Kojuro is just a good parental figure and his total dedication isn't concerning at all.

Neither is the rate he's drinking at! That's another quarter-bottle gone.
]

I'm lucky to have him. He gave me...Mm, never mind. Not things I should say to strangers.

What's your story, though? You're not a samurai, so you don't know shit about retainers and lords, yes? Tellllllme. [Yep, that last bit's all slurred out in one word. At least Kojuro looks less punchy and more just...Tipsy and curious. Even though half his face is still hidden.]

Me? Well, we Springtide do follow our own lords, though I'm a Druid and we fall under a different branch of society. [With such different worlds, it's difficult to know what common ground you might have. Not to mention he's been drinking. That seemed like a decent place to start....]

We're magic users, these ears [he'll point to the lilies on his head] let me use different healing arts. Some other abilities, as well, but as I work as a doctor... they're less important. [like turning into a boar, he sure can do that, but it's not exactly relevant to medical work.]

[personal profile] righteyed 2018-07-05 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Ah, Silas...You genius. Kojuro's already starting to sway a little, even if it's just his head bobbing as he tries to look up. He couldn't take complicated world details right now.]

Druid-- Physician! Physician, got it. So you...Work on the battlefield? Or just for civilian interest? That's a different thing, y'know.

[He says that, but he's looking at the lilies the whole time, trying to figure out how those work as ears. But it's too hard...Way too hard.] Physicians are important to everyone though, so 's good work. You do good work.

You like farming, now?

No, no, not one for farming, people still need medical help, even here. And... I've done some battlefield work, but there hasn't been many skirmishes in my time. [the Springtide largely keep to themselves, so the only battles they have is with invaders on the forest.... and even then, the Fae tend to be swifter to act... and often more brutal.]

I primarily work with expectant mothers, [he'll turn his head to hiccup into the back of his hand] Delivering babies and such.

[personal profile] righteyed 2018-07-09 07:00 am (UTC)(link)
Oh! Oh shit, huh...That's important work. You do good work, just as important as farming.

[Slowly, his head tips back down to the counter so that only one eye and half his mouth is visible now, but at least what's visible is a smile.

We have now hit the Sleepy Stage of Drunkojuro. Please excuse his rudeness, he'll be paying in the morning for it at least.
] Don't know if you'll get as much work here unless everyone starts shacking up together and playing happy families, but...Still important. One of those jobs you do for the love, not for the pay...Right? Mm.

You like radishes?
