[Oh look, it's that boy who got lost in the mines.
Well... not lost...
He's much less ruffled today, dressed in a warm sweater and sitting inside his home with a cup of steaming tea. Or cocoa. Hard to tell from this angle. Those that know him, and he realizes how few that is now, will correctly guess that it's cocoa.]
It's nearly October. Riverview had Halloween parties. [Much of the one he attended has been... forgotten...] And, back in England, it was my duty as the Earl of Phantomhive to host a celebration of sorts.
I don't really have the funding or skills on my own do anything so grandiose here but I thought a haunted house might be fun. Some games could be set up outside for those less adventurous. Things like bobbing for apples? Or- oh, I don't know. I never was particularly good at all this.
[The servants handled everything. And by that he means Sebastian.]

'Duty of the Earl' I understand.
Halloween and haunted house, no. Could you explain?
Audio
Halloween falls on the thirty-first of October each year. Different countries and cultures celebrate it differently but it's spent exorcising evil spirits and celebrating the autumn harvest.
In England, we'd carve Jack-o-lanterns from turnips- Bardroy says they use pumpkins in America. I never really participated in events each year.

[But then again he does measure time by human standards using his pocket watch.]
The funding isn't really a problem, my Lord. [The demon doesn't have much need for money from his own account other than hiring any farmhands or the locals to keep a staff on hand to help maintain the property.]
So, what do you have in mind for this year, a haunted house you say? I can go find an abandon empty house in one of the farm lots. I'm sure the mayor wouldn't oppose if we rent the space for the entire month for the event.
Re: [video]
I thought it might be fun. Maybe everyone could wander through it and we could have treats and games set up near the exit? And only so long as the mayor doesn't mind.
I see. Something like a maze or those escape the room type of games? [The butler is only suggesting.] I'll contact the mayor and see to it.
I'll try to get the biggest lot. The more room we have, the better for more people to get lost in it. Imagine! They will get lost for hours with no hope to be found~.
[Poor Ciel to endure the demon's dry sense of humor.]
Re: [video]
Perhaps... a bit of hope. [Send help, SOS, he's a little worried now about just what Sebastian might get up to.] Or no one would get to play ant games or anything after. It can't be the only entertainment we provide.
[See, the demon is really trying to understand people. And their feelings. He doesn't understand them all too well. To him, they are a source of food and so they are livestock.]
I'll see to it that I can design the house to be fun for our guests.
[Silly livestock and their demands, but the demon is willing to put up Astre's request for now. Childish as it can be, he doesn't see it as a difficult request to fufill]

[...oh it's the child back in the mines.]
Oh? [Pushing up his glasses to get a better view of the video on his feed.] hello, hello! It seems you're doing well! Are you feeling better since I last you?
'Duty of the Earl?' Goodness, I have no idea you're an earl. That's quite an honor and great duty. You must have owned and lived in a big mansion, I presume?
video
I did, though it was just my servants and I, an occasional guest. We kept a small house in Riverview, much easier. [And more cozy, really. Which surprised him a bit.]
video
[Abel has a hunch the boy might have fragile health at one point. Hence his concern.]
I see. Still, I hope you're doing well and the next time you decide to go to the mines, don't go on your own, all right? [Yup, even the Earl got scolded by the Father.] If you would like to go, you can give me a call and I'll be more than happy to accompany you.
video
I don't think I'll be going into the mines again. No need to worry about that, Father. [He feels so small suddenly.
Not that he isn't just generally small.] I do appreciate the offer though.video
video
At least it's early enough that you haven't entirely missed it.

[While Sebastian can handle a lot of things, he's not sure how much he can do after hearing he'd had a bit of an adventure in another world as well.]
I've never done a haunted house before. Gone in one or designed one. Or know what kind of games or anything to have set up after it. There's a lot I could use help with.

However, she's not going to mention that as she tilts her head in confusion. ]
Halloween? What's that?
[ Haunted houses? Yeah, she knows about those. ]

We haven't brought Albert back into our home. Perhaps we should start there?
no subject
It doesn't quite feel right without him, does it? I think we should, although... would it really be Albert now?
no subject
Hmm. You make a good point. Poor Albert. I do hope he's fairing well back in Riverview. Although that was a nice home we left behind. Someone is sure to have snatched it up as soon as they found it abandoned.

[Not that this house doesn't already.]
