This valley is oddly peaceful, isn't it - compared to a lot of places I've - and a lot here, I'd think - come from.
[ What a way to begin a message to everybody. But, really, Cid needed something to begin his proposal with. ]
If you have any gems or rocks, I can turn them into jewelry - enhanced with Magitek or not. I brought my tools with me - but I will also need some payment. Upkeep isn't free, and I don't have the Ironworks to absorb the costs.
Also, a question: for those of you who are able to use magic, does it still work in this realm?
- Cid tol Garlond.

Also, yeah man. Still magical over here.

That's a little good to know. We all come from different places - even if I'm not magical myself, I doubted these different schools would work together.
no subject
Aw, nah, dude! Mixing schools is dope. You can't have a superfarm without a wizard casting a growing spell and a druid communing with it, you know?
no subject
I have not heard of wizards or druids. But I'd imagine, if this farm was in Eorzea, I'd have that damned sylph spreading seeds and her allies using magic to grow it - instead of using the perfectly fine machines Garlemald uses.
no subject
So this is probably yet another Cid. ]
Hello, Cid tol Garlond. I am Era Ra.
My magic is functional, though I have yet to attempt anything at full strength.
Do you work solely with gems and minerals, or are you able to work with precious metals as well?
no subject
I am able to work with metals, but not as well. These metals aren't like home - not like I can't adapt to them, of course.
no subject
If there is life there is aether, in my experience. There are some forms of magic that draw upon one's own aether reserves rather than that of the surrounding environment as well.
If you are in need of more complex fittings for the gems and rocks you work with feel free to send a message to me. Goldsmithing is one of the few crafts I've had the time to excel at.
no subject
That's something I'm not sure about. Aether is an Eorzean resource - and Eorzea was far richer then some Garlean territories in it. I don't have a reader, but this place seems more like the former then the latter.
You've got those skills as well? If this business takes off, I'll take you up on that. There may be complex gems even I've never seen - always good to have other eyes on them.
no subject
I have not been to any Garlean territories, but it is further north even than Coerthas. That could have been a factor as well, even disregarding Eorzea's abnormally high levels of aether.
I am a goldsmith and leatherworker. I am only moderately skilled at the other crafts.
And luckily enough for our current circumstances I also am a botanist. Even if I have never farmed I at least have a starting point.
no subject
Always could have been. I can't help but be curious about this place, however - if there may be ways to change how we think about the Garlean body.
Those two'll keep us running, for now - if you'll work with me.
I'll need to see if I can get some machinery running - I'm not a botanist of any sort - not even before I went to the academy.
no subject
Hiya Cid! I'm sure we aren't from the same Eorzea, but I'm glad to see another friendly face made it!
All of my magic abilities from paladin and dark knight seem to be working fine - I can pump out a full clemency without any issue.
I'm not very good at the smart stuff, but if you need any extra muscle to move things around or an extra pair of hands and don't need them to be small please don't hesitate to message me! My sis was super close to you from our world so I'm always happy to help a friend, even if you're a different version of him! :)

You're a defender, then? That's good, that you haven't been weakened. Even with this peace, I don't trust it.
I could use some extra muscle - I'm clearing out my farm to turn it into a new work area, at the very least. As you guessed, I do not know your sister - but I would be okay with meeting you, and hearing of her. She must be good, to be close to me.

I currently have no plans and can drop by whenever works for you. I just need to know when to show up and where you're at - can these things send locations?
no subject
Hang on - I think there's a feature. But I'm not doing much right now - just getting a feel for those out here.
[ After a little, Cid has sent his location via the map application. ]

I have no authority here, so it does not listen to me
[ this is not a huge problem and in fact worth it, but not being able to do things like pull things like clothes out of thin air anymore is somewhat inconvenient. ]
no subject
However, if it's simply due to lack of authority, then I still wonder how this world is connected to our own. It cannot simply be disconnected.
no subject
my "world" was an afterlife, so it would not have a direct connection. but I cannot speak for yours
no subject
You're dead.

...At least, it would be if this wasn't bringing people from places which work differently. That's why I'm curious about magic.
There was a man who worked with Garlemald who theorized my races lack of magic could be conquered, in one way or another. I doubted him - however, if there are other schools of magic which do not use aether, that man might have been right.
no subject
I have seen many different types of magic. most need innate qualities or physiological adaptations, but some do not
no subject
It's a block from using the lifeblood of our Star - but if it's not the same as this one, then I'd imagine it could be taught.
no subject
the type I am familiar with does require physiological adaptations, or I would offer to teach you :< I am sorry
what was the lifeblood used for?
no subject
That's fine. I want to remain myself - other then what corruption I already have.
I'm not an expert on it but this lifeblood - aether - makes up everything. Those who don't have third eyes like me-- hang on a moment.
[ And Cid sends a picture of himself, with the weird pearl-like third eye visible. ]
Any other of the major races can expel and change that aether into magical attacks - or they can use it for other needs. For example, crafters manipulate these elements to aid in creation.
no subject
corruption?
[ sorry, everything else is getting ignored for the moment in favor of that ]
no subject

no subject
the corruption I am familiar with damages the soul, so I was concerned

no subject
I'll hope for your sake that's the case. If not, and the problem becomes more severe... we do have some experience with managing that kind of wounding.
no subject
[ The next reply, however, seems to have become private. ]
My body changes to another Spoken race every so often. Usually when I'm tired. But it doesn't hurt.
no subject
...I apologize if we've been overbearing; the "corruption" we're familiar with causes emotional and mental instability in its more advanced stages, as well as a compulsion towards cannibalism. The source was destroyed recently enough to make it difficult to confirm or believe that it's truly gone, so hearing you mention something similar was something of a unpleasant shock.
no subject
I was hoping to find somebody who could do precisely that. What would you like in exchange for a simple pair of earrings?
As for magic, I have not had opportunity to test my own but I have seen others use it successfully.
no subject
[ Sorry, Cid thinks it's a little barbaric. Urgh. ]
What kind of magic do you have, though?
no subject
Holy magics for the most part. Things like healing or purifying. Divination. With time and practice I could manage just about anything. [Modest.] But what I'm really good at is summoning and binding guardian beasts.
no subject
That's-- damned impressive. The only ones I've seen with holy magic are pure healers - I'd like to see your magic. It'd count as payment.
no subject

[ Cid sends a picture of himself, because: ] This is what I look like.

-Seere.
[...A little on the short side. Sure, that's one way to put it. He's about as tall as any first-grader, and looks just as old. The thing that stands out most about this lost-looking child roaming the plaza, besides the commanding way he carries himself, are the intricate black markings covering his arms and neck where clothing doesn't.
It takes him a few minutes of people-watching before he spots the man from the photo, and he waves an arm high over his head as he approaches.]
Excuse me! You're the jewelsmith, aren't you? Cid tol Garlond? [Is he saying that right? He hopes so.]
no subject
That's me. You a Lalafell, Seere? [ He asks - though this seems more like a child-looking being. Either way, he's going to be respectful. ]
no subject

[Boy is he in for a surprise if an actual Lalafell shows up.]
No, don't worry about that! Physically, I'm no different from any other human child. Just one that can no longer grow.
[But never mind that! He fishes around in the satchel at his side for a smooth lump of turquoise that fits comfortably in the palm of his hand.]
