mingle - raining cats and dogs (?)
It was a regular day for farming and living and whatever people wanna do - clouds had built over the last few days, but other then a slight bit of rain, things were normal.
Until now.
It began with rain. Just regular rain. Until the rain seemed to shudder and become soft ice. It looked like a mix of rain and snow - and glimmered like diamonds. It wasn't cold, it was just... beautiful. What a strange event...
That is, until a few hours passed. The diamond dust falling from the sky wasn't too weird. Even if it was nearing the end of Summer, it was quite nice. What began next, though? It was even weirder.
Diamonds and other gems had begun to fall from the sky, though they seemed to impact people just like rain. Not painful at all. They were real, at that! Whatever was causing this, it was... well, weird. It wasn't just the people and the outsiders curious about this - Pokemon from the forests and beyond seemed to be coming out into the town. Oddly, they were mostly Zubat and Bidoof... but there's a lot of other Pokemon, curious about the gems! Some of them are even eating them. Please stop.
...though, people not distracted by the Pokemon might notice small apple-like rat creatures. Some of them even seem to be falling from the sky with some squeaking.
The next day, things will be back to normal - any items not picked up will vanish, just as they appeared.

I'll go...bring it back to the woods.
no subject
... Yet there it was, blinking at them.
Then blinking at a butterfly that flutters by.
'is this a pigeon?'
... Uh.] Do we even know it lives in the woods?
no subject
Uh.]
Where do you think it lives?
no subject
It... came from there [she points at one direction] and it was heading there [the opposite direction]. It... seems to have forgotten where it's going but I think there's a body of water in that direction.

[Jack moves forward again with purpose--it seems that answer is good enough for him. He's gonna do it. He's gonna go pick it up.]
no subject
Pls Jack.] I'm not saving it if it ends up not knowing how to swim.
[Her hand is still going to where her sidearm is, though. Cause. You never know.]
no subject
[He's within spitting distance of the creature now, moving slowly as if he expects it to attack, despite its disoriented appearance. For all Jack knows, it could have rabies or some kind of equivalent.
But here he goes anyway, taking one more step before the creature opens its mouth--
--and expels a jet of water right into Jack's face. It's not unlike being hit with a pressure washer.]
no subject
She was really surprised, really, and it was honestly to be expected that the creature would do something about this sudden 6 feet tall man approaching it decisively.
But this. This.
She just runs at the creature, nudges it gently to the side so it's aiming another way. It keeps spraying water, not realising it's been moved yet.
But the sound coming from Ana's mouth is just utter, unrelenting giggling.] Are--are you okay?
no subject
Eventually, he realizes there's no active spray on his face, and he starts to gulp down air. Jack is dripping wet and Ana is laughing at him, because of course she is. He can't say he didn't ask for this.]
--Yeah.
[But now shooting that thing seems like a much more reasonable course of action. He coughs.]
Just water.
no subject
[She starts at the sudden weight against the back of her ankles. Looking down, and Ana finds the slowpoke had managed to waddle its way behind her, looking around her legs at Jack and then slowly trying - and failing - to hide behind them.]
I think you scared it.
no subject
Thanks.
[With that taken care of, he turns his attention back to the creature. He has no idea what its body language means, because it's most certainly something he's never seen before, but he thinks that 'scared' is an accurate assessment.]
I think it likes you.
[Ana, it's your burden now.]
no subject
Looking back at the creature, who takes its time moving its head to look back at her, she sighs. She has a tendency to gather strays, doesn't she?]
I think it just wants a shield from the big scary man who started stomping in its direction. This is why I always advise not to charge in by yourself.
[The slowpoke reaches its front paws and rests them on her leg. Hello :D] ... maybe it does like me. [I don't want to be a mother again, Jack.]
no subject
[For as much as he doesn't want to acknowledge the fact that they may have just picked up a pet or a mascot, or a possibly-rabid wild animal, drawing attention back to Ana is a great way to pretend like he didn't just get hosed in the face.]
See?
no subject
The slowpoke just stares, although it seems happy in that goofy look at her.
Ana sighs.] Maybe we can lead it to the body of water instead.
no subject
Try and pick it up?
[He certainly isn't going to, as he's already been established as large and scary.]
no subject
She considers that, but she's unsure about picking up an animal that she doesn't know.] And get hosed on the face like you did? I'd rather push it. [Which, now that she thinks of it - where does the creature keep the water it sprays? Maybe its weight changes according to how much water it has...
The slowpoke slowly... seems to rest its paws on her shoulders. It reminds her of Fareeha when she was small and wanted to be picked up.] Oh. Did you understand? Well.
[Very carefully, Ana picks the slowpoke up - whose expression slowly transform into something like "yay!" - and slowly raises up to standing .] Oh my god, I never thought something could be heavier than Jack.
no subject
[But they're well beyond that point, as the ship seems to have sailed, and Ana has an armful of strange pink creature that seems absolutely thrilled about being picked up. What Jack does not expect is for it to be heavy, though he isn't sure what he can do in this situation without getting soaked again.]
I'd offer to help, but I don't think it would end well.
[Sorry Ana, you're stuck.]
no subject
So she shifts her shoulders, stabilizing the weight, and starts carrying the armful of pink and water towards the body of water.] Well, stick close. I'm taking it to the water and I don't know how it'll react.
no subject
[He thumbs back in the direction of the farm house. That's a thing he could do, though he's wary of leaving Ana alone in the middle of a field, and he's not sure the creature is going to be amenable to the idea anyway. It seems perfectly content to let Ana carry it.]
no subject
Or rather, if it did, it did slowly, giving Ana time to shift her own weight into balancing the slowpoke in her arms.] Let's go, hm?
no subject
[Inhumanly fast, as she knows. He could be gone and back in just a few minutes, but Ana seems committed to getting this over with. Jack doesn't exactly blame her, all things considered, so he follows along.]
Let me know if you change your mind.
no subject
... getting her cheek sniffed, which makes her tip her head upwards, should the creature suddenly start getting too cuddly.] Let me know if the terrain is level. It's not letting me look ahead much.
no subject
[Really, he will. Promise.]
You're clear for now.
no subject
Thanks. [The slowpoke just. rests against her as it's being carried. What a big baby.
She tries to peek around its head, where she feels the ground tilt down a bit.] Which way?
no subject
[And the sound of his not-insubstantial footsteps. And what she can see in front of her, even with the slowpoke in the way.]
What if it doesn't want to go?
[What if they have a pet now?]
