mingle - raining cats and dogs (?)

It was a regular day for farming and living and whatever people wanna do - clouds had built over the last few days, but other then a slight bit of rain, things were normal.

Until now.

It began with rain. Just regular rain. Until the rain seemed to shudder and become soft ice. It looked like a mix of rain and snow - and glimmered like diamonds. It wasn't cold, it was just... beautiful. What a strange event...

That is, until a few hours passed. The diamond dust falling from the sky wasn't too weird. Even if it was nearing the end of Summer, it was quite nice. What began next, though? It was even weirder.

Diamonds and other gems had begun to fall from the sky, though they seemed to impact people just like rain. Not painful at all. They were real, at that! Whatever was causing this, it was... well, weird. It wasn't just the people and the outsiders curious about this - Pokemon from the forests and beyond seemed to be coming out into the town. Oddly, they were mostly Zubat and Bidoof... but there's a lot of other Pokemon, curious about the gems! Some of them are even eating them. Please stop.

...though, people not distracted by the Pokemon might notice small apple-like rat creatures. Some of them even seem to be falling from the sky with some squeaking.

The next day, things will be back to normal - any items not picked up will vanish, just as they appeared.

((OOC: A reminder to do your opt-outs if you haven't yet! Final reminder, I swear!))

Ah... no, actually. I think Carbink came from the Kalos Region originally. She was gifted to me as an egg by a colleague there.

[Steven dusts off his hands once the conflict has been resolved, and pats Carbink's head when she comes back over to them. He gives Tsuyoi a nod too, out of respect, knowing how temperamental they could be. Steven just hopes she won't hold a grudge against his Carbink for attacking and breaking up her fight.]

I'm from Hoenn, my name is Steven Stone.

[Her eyes widen; that's like. Half the world away! But manners first, curiosity later (and that respectful nod is noted!!!).] I'm Kurotani Saeko. It's nice to meet you.

[It's the way Hoenn's said that catches her attention more than anything - 'Steven Stone' doing little more than tripping her up a bit over which is the surname. Addressing him via first name would be unthinkably forward on her end.] Oh! You're from Lillie-san's world too, Stone-san?

[And it will be Stone-san forever. Sorry Steven.]

Hey-- Just, uh just Steven is okay, really.

[Mr. Stone is his father.]

It's nice to meet you too, Saeko. I'm not sure I know a Lillie though, is she another trainer you met?

[There is the most uncomfortable look ever.] Kurotani, please, Stone-san. We don't know each other and it's not proper to use an adult's first name.

[She nods.] I met her when I first arrived. She's younger than me but I'm not sure, and has an Alolan rokon with her. It's really cute and it hatched from an egg.

[Yes, that is something worth noting.]

[Maybe he's being rude... Steven knows he does that sometimes, without realizing it. So he just laughs a little and gives her a sheepish (mareepish?) smile.]

I see... I haven't been to Alola myself yet but I know the League is making plans to hold an event there. That's very exciting indeed.

[His Carbink floats over nearer to Saeko and brrrrs in her direction, checking her out.]

Which region are you from?

But- Huh. I wish them luck then. [She shrugs, not bothering to follow that train of thought. Different worlds, and what she knows to be true probably isn't true for other trainers.

That, and she's pulling out her pokedex and pointing it at the carbink. All that does is display the kanji for "No information found" and Saeko soon returns it to a pocket.

Asagi city in Jōto, but I moved to Hōen just under a year ago. It's alright, though I'd like to travel it again one day. Being so focused on the competitive nature of the badge journey didn't leave much time for sightseeing. Plus, I was doing my best to not get caught up in the eco-terrorism around the time.

[It's a good thing Tsuyoi's next to her, as Saeko's hand buries itself into the hound's fur.]
