mingle - raining cats and dogs (?)

It was a regular day for farming and living and whatever people wanna do - clouds had built over the last few days, but other then a slight bit of rain, things were normal.

Until now.

It began with rain. Just regular rain. Until the rain seemed to shudder and become soft ice. It looked like a mix of rain and snow - and glimmered like diamonds. It wasn't cold, it was just... beautiful. What a strange event...

That is, until a few hours passed. The diamond dust falling from the sky wasn't too weird. Even if it was nearing the end of Summer, it was quite nice. What began next, though? It was even weirder.

Diamonds and other gems had begun to fall from the sky, though they seemed to impact people just like rain. Not painful at all. They were real, at that! Whatever was causing this, it was... well, weird. It wasn't just the people and the outsiders curious about this - Pokemon from the forests and beyond seemed to be coming out into the town. Oddly, they were mostly Zubat and Bidoof... but there's a lot of other Pokemon, curious about the gems! Some of them are even eating them. Please stop.

...though, people not distracted by the Pokemon might notice small apple-like rat creatures. Some of them even seem to be falling from the sky with some squeaking.

The next day, things will be back to normal - any items not picked up will vanish, just as they appeared.

((OOC: A reminder to do your opt-outs if you haven't yet! Final reminder, I swear!))

I'm actually from Boston, same as her, so I wouldn't know anything about the NCR.

[A few residents from Diamond City were from that far west, but what Hancock knew about California and its new Republic could fill a single-page pamphlet.]

I still save my bottlecaps. Old habits die hard.

They've put this sort of currency into rotation. And they tried to conquer the Mojave. [ There's a laugh, before the Courier gives a twisted smirk. ] Tried. But it's not theirs, it's the peoples. You get me?

[ holy fuck they look almost bloodthirsty for a moment, not like the gentle kind man who gazes at the sky and jumps at the smallest animals. ]

I've been keeping 'em as well. Not just th'habit - but hey. Someday these people'll fuck up.

I get you.

[That smirk and hint of bloodthirst didn't sit quite right with Hancock, so he told himself to keep an eye on his new pal for the time being.]

Would you believe I'm actually the mayor of a small settlement back home?

Oh? You are? [ That gets them to calm, to smile like usual. To bury their fears. ] Like, how big we talking?

Not very large. The population was maybe a few hundred people, maybe less than that. We take in those who aren't wanted or have nowhere to go.

...That sounds like the sort of place I'd travel though, when I was on th'road. The sort of place I'd wish to settle down, you know?

You've gotta be a special brand of crazy to be a Courier.

Not much call for Couriers in the northeast, so I'll take your word on that.

Really? I'd think there's lots of people'd want deliveries, no matter where they lived. [ There's almost a bit of... happiness in those eyes, though? Hope? What are you thinking, Courier Six...? ]
