Network Post - 002

Alright, to anyone who was looking for cuttings or saplings from my apple tree, I have several ready and potted to bring home. Please come to [INSERT FARM HERE] at your earliest convenience if you still want them. Any spares will be planted here to continue the growth of the orchard.

Speaking of which, I've branched out- [Martel] into oranges as well. Thank you to everyone who's purchased one of my apples or anything else from my farm, I wouldn't have been able to do it without you. Certainly not so quickly. Next on my list is peaches, so watch for those!

Anyway, aside from orchard-related news, I've been thinking about something. I've encountered quite a surprising amount of people with abilities and skills related to healing and medical treatment in general, several of us from very different disciplines. [From pure technology to magical healing hair, the valley's got it all, it seems.]

Yet, to the best of my knowledge there's no real organization among us. Allow me to be the first to advocate for everyone who has any sort of medical skill to come together, have a meeting, perhaps, where we can share information and let each other know who we are, where we're located, and how to get in contact with us. We certainly can't take over the hospital itself, but with a bit of effort, we might be able to head off many difficulties, and I'm sure we have much to learn from each other.

Oh, you've been growing apples. Can I see them?

[How fast can this child pick up his jPad it is so fast and only involves a little excited-dropping in the process.

Certainly, dear.

[She takes a moment here to turn the camera of the jPad up to take in the enormous apple tree that was the first thing she grew here. There's quite a bit of red, ripe fruit hanging from its branches, which is all the more impressive since apple season around here should be in fall.]

What do you think?

That will be more than enough. I've decided to sell them at a tenth of the cost of one of Mister Pierre's saplings, which comes to six hundred.

[It took a bit for her to decide on a fair price for her cuttings and the saplings quick-grown from her seeds, but she eventually settled on this price since, to be fair, buying from Pierre instead would give a person a sapling that was much further along than hers and would grow to maturity much more quickly.]

Hello Ms. Martel, how do you do? Do you still have any saplings of your apple tree left? I would like to take one to my new home and grow them. There's plenty of room on my land. It's sorta look empty, so I'm looking for new crops to plant and grow. I don't mind give the sapling a new home.

[Because new trees are meant to be adopt, fostered, nurture, and care for!]

[OOC: I forgot to mention last time we thread. If you like to call him Father Abel, that's fine! It's a title he's used to being called by others.]

Ah, Father Abel! I'm very happy to let one of them go into your care. I've already set the price at six hundred. I hope that's acceptable?

[OOC: Sounds good to me!]

Hm. [Even better. It's hard to hide the smile--at least, by his own standards, where the edge of a grin counts as beaming.] And--?

[What's the right way to ask this.

Probably an abrupt silence will help.]

[She waits for him to continue for a few moments, but eventually she just has to tilt her head in curiosity and ask.]

Was there... something else?

I've been-- reading.

[Just about everything he could get his hands on, but also a good deal about trees. And yet.]

But-- if I run into trouble with the cutting?

[Can he keep asking her the million questions he's going to have? Is it okay to be inquisitive?

Gosh, trusting that he's not already a burden is hard.]

[Is that what he was so reticent about? Martel can't help but giggle a little.]

Oh heavens, dear, don't worry! I'll help you as much as you need to ensure the tree grows up properly.

Aside from that one thing, of course. I haven't forgotten your request.

[It isn't a particularly mean sort of giggle. That doesn't stop the tips of his ears from beginning to go pink.]

--thank you, ma'am. I can-- be there soon.

I'll be here most of the day! Just get here before evening and you'll be fine.

[She'll probably be picking apples when he arrives, that or fashioning or attaching tappers to some of the pine/maple/oak trees around.]

So a healer's guild, of sorts? That's a wonderful idea. [Even if life here seems safe, it never hurts to hoard every kind of magical knowledge. Just in case.]

That's one name for it! To be honest, now that you mention it, guilds just kind of seem like a good idea in general, don't they?

[Perhaps a little collective bargaining could give them all more leverage with their suppliers.]

[ Someone has caught wind of the price Martel's offering, and Sasuke... has his concerns. ]

You know, there's kindness, and then there's selling yourself short.

[ He's a ninja whose services are bought ~~sorta~~. The value of your skills is important! ]

That's amazing all things considering.

[Plants was Flora's speciality so she knew a thing or two, but she always enjoyed seeing how others manage to take care of their own.]

As much as I am good at growing plants, one can always learn new things from others. If that is okay to ask, of course.

You believe I should charge more? It's a difficult balance to strike, I'll admit, but I am still making a profit at this price.

[Could she be making more of one? Sure, but really, once she's got a few more trees she won't be using that much money anyway. Her initial investment's high, but her continuing costs really aren't.]

Oh, I'd love to share my tips, but honestly I mostly just do the usual things. Find good soil, keep the area around them clear of competing plantlife, ensure they get plenty of water and sun...

And, well, I might cheat just a little.

[She holds up a glowing green hand, winks, and pokes the tree. A couple apples that were formerly just starting to ripen abruptly swell to full ripeness.]

I definitely vould love to purchase several saplings, both apple and oranges.

[She's always eager to add more trees to her slowly growing orchard.]

And I vas vondering vat kind of medical skills? It never hurts to know vat kind of doctors are around here just in case.

Ehehe... branched out. Good one! [Faith can appreciate a good pun. In fact...] I bet all the branching out will leave you feeling real peachy after the new addition!

[Now that she's done contributing to awful puns...]

A meeting between all the healers sounds like a great idea! [Mostly because she's curious about all the different ways people handle their healing and other medical skills, but hey.] You can count me in on that.

[Unaware of Faith having responded to Martel first, Jeb leaves a response of his own.]

Hello again, Martel! I'm glad to hear that things are going well for you. I'd be interested in purchasing an apple sapling myself, if that's all right. It'll probably be good for me to get more fruit on the farm. [And once he has apples, he can offer apple pies at the shop!] When would be a good time for me to come by your farm?

As I'm sure you already know from the last time we talked, I think a gathering between all the healers is a really good idea. I'll be more than happy to attend one!

[More puns on the network, Martel? Well, it looks like he has no choice...]

I'm going to have to insist that you leaf people alone when it comes to those puns, Martel.

[Counterattack!]

[Before very long, she'll have one (1) very eager young man trotting along with his personal and highly muted brand of excitement twitching at the corners of his lips. He'll also be offering her one (1) jar of blueberries, because they've been growing so well that everyone ought to be given some indeterminate number (??) of them whenever he sees anyone.]

[And of course she greets him with a smile and a wave as she's attaching a tapper to one of the maple trees.]

Hello there- Oh my, what do you have there?

My prices are literally a tenth of those at the store, because they'll take a bit longer to grow. You can have as many as you can afford, Miss Rip, I'll set them aside for you per our agreement.

[She's sure that won't be an actual problem. She's readied plenty, and surely there won't be that many people eager to start a fruit orchard.]

As for us in the healing part of things... There's myself, I combine what I consider a pretty thorough background in biology with my innate powers to stimulate the body to heal wounds and purify diseases quickly. Dr. Ziegler comes from a world with exceedingly advanced medical technology, some of which she's brought with her. And young Rapunzel appears to be able to heal wounds with her hair! Quite intriguing.
