There's a video of some very nice looking peppers, fish (both fresh on ice and salted to preserve), and berries. Whoever is filming it never turns the jPad back to film himself.

"I find myself with far more of these than I can use. I am willing to sell or trade, if anyone would be willing." His voice is just a little strange, as if he's messed up the audio recording in somewhat, or filtered it. Human but something a little off, almost mechanical in a way, about it.

"I'm new to farming, although I was taught the basics, so I've had limited success." Has he been living off fish and very few vegetables with even less grain? Yes, yes he has. "I can walk to meet you if you aren't close to me, I believe I have this tagged with my location." Which of course means just show up, right?

[ As Luke talks, Anakin realizes he's less than five years older than Luke, which is strange - although it was less strange than meeting his son who was over twice his age. ]

[ And he listening, mulling over the differences as he knew them. But hearing the last...that at least sounded like something he would do. And he reached over, laying his own mechanical hand over Luke's injured one. ]

I deeply regret your injury, I do. Everything I've learned about the Death Star, it should be destroyed.

[ Luke shook his head, trying to be reassuring, placing his real hand over his. ]

It's fine; you saved my life. I rather be missing an arm than suffocating in space because my air ran out.

This is better yes.

[ He can well imagine what he would have done had he tried and failed to save the son he'd been raising. After all, look what he did to try to ensure he was born? ]

But I do know what a lost limb costs.

[ Luke looked down at the mechanical hand under his, remembered all the prosthetics lined up and ready to go in the medical wing in Vader's palace, and a small, pained smile came to his face. He had to wonder just how painful it was for his lord to live like this. ]

I'll be fine; I'm not giving up, and I wont stop fighting.

[ He peered up at him then, that smile turning a little more happy. ]

Besides, I'm more worried about you.

[ It is easier than it was - here, like this, he is free of the suit and a ventilator. He has other artificial organs yes, but he can breathe under his own will. It is better. ]

Of course you won't. It's what made your father so beloved.

[ A part of him curls a little - it's not a lie, but it's still a secret which feels like a betrayal. He's so tired of secrets and agendas. ]

Why?

[ He tilts his head and the light and shadows on this face change, the scars are too new, too young to keep his face smooth and it means he looks different - dramatically different - depending on the light. ]

[ Luke had to duck his head a moment, a broad smile coming to his face. Hearing about his father, anything about his father, was always a quick way to make him immensely happy. ]

[ It's a moment before he finally looks up at him, motioning to his face. ]

I've never seen you like this before. I don't think anyone sentient in our galaxy has for years.

[ He can feel the joy radiating off Luke, it's like the warmest, gentlest sun, so full of life it feels like it's vibrating inside his bones. ]

The suit was life support, and needed maintenance and attention. Before I can here, I was on a massive ship - the medical crew worked to repair some of the damage, as it was clear it would be fastest and easier to do than to get my suit into a shape which was useful.

[ Luke couldn't help but feel happy for his lord, wishing he had seen this ship for himself so he could thank the medical crew personally. Actually being able to see his mentor's face mattered more to him than he ever thought it would. Maybe because his eyes were blue like his... he found himself staring into them again, something like familiarity clawing at the back of his mind, but he couldn't understand why. ]

[ He ducked his head after a moment, letting out a faint noise. He needed to stop staring like that; he was sure even Vader had his limits of tolerance when it came to him. ]

I'm glad. I'll still worry, but I'm glad.

[ As Luke stares, Anakin stays still and quiet. Luke does have the same blue eyes he does - it makes him wonder really, were they came from. Not his mother. And he realizes Luke doesn't know his sister, and...he's not sure how he feels about that. ]

You could help me find parts to build a medical building, if you are going to worry.

[ A medical droid and a bacta tank would be good to have regardless. ]

[ ...Vader wanted to help him build something? It was hard to miss just how happy that made Luke, yet somehow he managed to keep himself from jumping up in excitement. ]

I don't know about a whole separate building; it may be difficult to get materials for that. We could improve the one that's in town, though.

[ Given Luke's reaction, Anakin made a note to reach out often for these kinds of projects. He already had a list. ]

If I'd need it, I'd rather it not be in so public a location.

Oh... good point.

[ Luke paused, his face scrunching up as he gave it some thought. If they hired one of the locals to build the actual building frame, he might be able to go from there? Maybe add it as an addition to Vader's house, or something. That would definitely afford him some privacy. ]

[ Anakin was willing to devote time and energy to the project. He was even willing to do it alone. He'd just rather Luke be with him. ]

It isn't an outcome I would want to happen but...

[ Logically, it would. ]

[ Luke sat up a little straighter, a bright smile on his face. ]

Don't worry, my lord. I'll figure something out; you can count on me.

Of that Luke, I have no doubt.

[ And privately he vowed to be worthy of Luke's loyalty. ]
