[Aurora is fiddling with the strange new technology, although the more observant may notice a bunny paw just on the side of the camera.]

I- yes, I do believe we've finally figured out how to do this.

[The animals around her all give cries of excitement. She laughs and then returns to regard the video.]

Hello, I am Princess Aurora, daughter of King Stefan and Queen Leah. [She offered quite the graceful curtsey to her invisible audience. Her owl and the other animals around her offer bows as well. That little trick might be more impressive than anything else she has to say.] But please just call me Aurora. [She'd say Rose but then she has to explain the WHY.]

Growing up, I had to learn herbal remedies, salves, and various other natural medicines to help with illnesses and pains, which is what I shall be dedicating my farm towards. If you are in need of anything for something as minor as stomach trouble or a headache to a more serious cold, then I will be happy to try and assist in any way I can.

[The owl gives a soft "hoo!" as if to remind Aurora that she has to make a living, this cannot be done for free.] Oh yes, thank you for reminding me. We shall work out a fair price upon your arrival.

[ Have they met before? He has no idea, so he risks an introduction — this way, at least, he can take a step back if necessary. ]

Oh, I'm sorry! I didn't mean to be rude, Your Majesty. It's me, Phillip.

I-I beg your pardon? [There are.... a bevy of emotions that Aurora is currently going through with that little statement just dropped on her.]

[For one, it is now, more than ever, official that she could no longer even think of her peasant boy in the woods when Phillip was here.... now.]

[She also wondered, idly, if he came looking for her, or if it was mere coincidence that he was here too. If it was the former... well, it was actually quite sweet that her betrothed was making such an effort for her, sight unseen as it were.

If it were the latter, fate clearly wished for her and Phillip to be together and she knew enough about Greek tragedies to know not to tempt fate.]

[But her betrothed was here... and... and honestly she didn't know how to feel about that. Was she happy? No, not entirely, but she wasn't mad at him. He hadn't kept her heritage and the betrothal a secret, after all. He may have been just as unhappy about it at first too, but knew that the importance of peace between kingdoms was far greater. Maybe they could even come to be fond of one another. It could never be love, not... not the way it had been with that boy in the woods, but he was not here, and she could not think of him anymore.

She was a princess, and her duty was to her people, her kingdom, her family... and her betrothed. She would be a good queen and wife, and good wives did not think about lost loves in the woods.]

Forgive me for my rudeness, but if you could please clarify... do... do you mean to say you are Prince Phillip, son of King Hubert and... and my betrothed?

[ Hans’ smile is sheepish when he answers, although it’s not because he knows how Aurora feels about her engagement. It’s the actual look on her face at the mention of Phillip’s name — he almost feels bad for her. Okay, maybe he does. A little. ]

There’s no need to apologize, Princess. Although we seem to be apologizing to each other a lot, and we’ve only started talking.

To answer your question... [ He takes a moment to look around the room, as if he’s worried about being overheard, and his expression turns a little serious. ] Yes. I’m King Hubert’s son. But I haven’t told anyone else.

As for being, ah, betrothed... that’s what I’ve been told. But you went missing, and, well... I thought it was more important to find you first.

[ He hopes he doesn’t screw things up so early. Lars’ notes only say that she went missing, possibly hidden away because of a war. ]

I think, I'm just a bit nervous, your highness. I'm afraid everything has been... [Well he IS her betrothed, she may as well be open about it.]

I was only informed we were betrothed on my sixteenth birthday, a few well weeks now before coming here, the same time I was even told I was a princess.

But, you came all the way here... for me?

Please, my lady, call me Phillip. Or, I suppose, Hans — it’s the name I’ve been using in my travels. I just don’t want to attract unnecessary attention.

[ At her question, he chuckles with a small shake of his head. ] I wish I could take all the credit, but while I did leave the kingdom to search for you, I ended up here by accident. Or, perhaps... it’s fate.

[ He lets the word hang in the air for a few moments, both for effect and to make a mental note about the details she’s just revealed. She didn’t know she’s a princess? Huh.

Then, he says, gently: ] I‘m sorry, Princess. All that must have been a lot to take in. And I certainly don’t want to make things more difficult or complicated for you.

Oh ah, my aunts would call me Briar Rose for the same reason... it didn't seem right to call myself that, though, as I- [As she had to leave that life behind.] will not be called such a thing any longer, except perhaps in private.

But please, call me Aurora, Phillip. [She may never love Phillip the way she loved that boy, but there was no reason to be hostile, they could even come to care for one another.]

I admit I'm still surprised by it all, to find out I'm betrothed to a prince and to know that I'm a princess as well. But.... I've had my time to take it in, and I suppose my very worst fear is nothing more than a distant memory. I'm really very glad to finally meet you, Phillip.

[ He touches the screen with his fingertips, as though he’s trying to reach her, to comfort her. His smile is sad, but his tone remains gentle. ]

We’re trapped in this place for a while yet. Perhaps it would make you feel better if you... don’t think about our betrothal for the time being. Just live out your life the way you have always wanted.

[ It’s a gambit on his end, but he hopes it’ll be better for him this way, in the long run. Can’t you see it, Aurora? This is how Phillip loves you. ]

But I’m very glad you’re here, Aurora. And I hope we can be friends.

Well... I... I admit I would like to get to know you better, at least. I would like to be friends as well. [Being friends was the first step, after all.]

This... I'm glad I am getting to meet you like this, Phillip, rather than our first meeting being our wedding day. We can take our time to know one another.

Friends would be a good start. [ Well, would you look at that. Mental synchronization. Jinx!

Then he laughs, and it’s actually a hearty one, amused at the thought of meeting ‘like this’. ] You mean getting acquainted through these curious devices? It is quite a story for a first meeting, don’t you think?

[ A nose pops out of a corner of the screen, eventually followed by the rest of the bunny’s head. Cue cute face, and awwww! ] Oh, hello there, little one.

Oh ah- [She blushes a bit, she's rather pretty when she blushes but smiles.] I meant more... at our own pace for meeting. Though it does make quite the story, that's true.

[She smiles even wider at his reaction to her animal friends. Admittedly, her peasant boy hadn't given them much notice but she supposed she couldn't blame him.] This is one of my friends. They go almost everywhere with me.

[ Damn, she is pretty. And quite charming, admittedly — someone's got to have a killer personality to attract such a crowd, after all. It's not too hard to play the part of a smitten betrothed, huh, Hans? ]

I would love to meet you, when your time and circumstances permit. And behold that wonderful smile in person.

[ He touches the screen again, as though to pet the bunny. ] Does he or she have a name? It's hard for me to tell, I'm afraid.

Well, perhaps... next week? I'm afraid I'm still settling in so not everything is quite as clean and neat as I would like. Would that be alright with you?

[When he compliments her smile so, she blushes even more, her pinks as red as the rose she's nicknamed after.]

He does, though it's in rabbit and not terribly easy to translate.
