001 ⚜ ( VIDEO/TEXT. / ACTION. )

i. video prompt.

[ the screen flickers to life and anyone currently viewing the network will get a good look of a little robotic face staring right back at the viewer. they're small and white and sporting the biggest smile on their face as they peer down the pad, blinking for a few seconds before they let out a shriek of delight and attempt to throw(?!) the pad across wherever they are in the outdoors.

suddenly the view changes, the screen a blur of colour and movement before it settles itself again and is now directed at a woman who seems to be in her thirties, her expression stern. (though, for a second, it softens just a bit when the baby babbles something both nonsensical yet cheerful from offscreen.) ]

Hello, I'm Lorem. I apologise for that; I was trying to activate the device earlier and had set it aside to finish some chores. It seems Daylight thought he should give it a try for my sake.

So I'll get straight to the point- I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me in setting up fences around my farm. My son is adventurous and likes to try and explore on his own, and I would like to keep him safe from his adventurous self. I'm asking here and not through the board because I'm hoping for it to be setup by today for personal reasons.

Payment will be given in return for your aid so feel free to drop by the farm or you can ask questions long as its related to the work at hand.

Thank you. [ after this, she gives a brief set of directions for where her farm is and will leave the device running while she continues to work, should anyone wish to send her a message or reply. she does switch the format to text though, out of habit more than anything else. ]

ii. action prompt.

[ should anyone take up lorem's call for help or just happen to stumble upon her farm while they're going about their business, this is what they'll find:

lorem, hard at work, wrist deep in soil and focused at the task at hand. her silver-white hair is pulled back into a messy bun as she works, dedicated in her mission to ridding her field of weeds and rocks and other debris that could get in the way of farming.

her son, daylight, is nearby. he seems to be entertaining himself well enough- happily using a set of buckets and boxes as an impromptu drum kit, his little hands slapping and hitting against the surface with glee. sometimes he'll throw one of the buckets or boxes and lorem dutifully trots after it, picking it up and making sure she's dusted it off before giving it back to her son.

one such chase after a bucket has her realising there's company with her. ]

Hello. Are you here for the job?

[It's not that Horatio is specifically always listening for ways to be helpful. He's not. It's just that farming here is so painfully easy compared to what he's used to. Everything seems to practically fall into his hands the moment he touches it. Even swinging a scythe isn't painfully difficult, and tilling takes barely a thought to accomplish.

Things have to fill the day. Being able to be helpful has been by far the most satisfying.

This one seems easy enough. Not his forte, but not an unknown skill (or one he doesn't imagine is also somehow incredibly easy here). It's certainly worth inquiring about.
]

What sort of fences? Wood or stone?

[ Why, that robotic son has caught the attention of the Courier - still in power armour, still wary. But instead, he has noticed that robot keeps playing - and that's nice and amusing. ]

...Sorry, didn't hear about the job. That yours?

[ It's been a while since they've moved in as neighbours, and Lorem has gotten to know Alex a little. The elf stands out quite a bit with his height and the ease with which he grooms his garden, something that's not lost on either of them. Thus, he's made it a point to help out, especially when others are not as blessed with nature's touch as he is.

He'll leave his cabin when the sun isn't so bright, a feather tucked behind one pointed ear; pale white against faded gold. ]

Good afternoon. I saw you needed some help with the fences?

[ He's a warrior as well, surely it's not too hard. ]

[Toby's just heading back from getting the coffee she desperately needs before she can even think, let alone think about doing work in her yard. She hadn't even glanced at her phone when she got up--the whole cellphone thing is still weird to her, let alone the idea of checking something that might not always ring--so she didn't know about the job request.

She still stops, though, but that's more because of the sight of a child. A couple years ago she might not have recognized it as a child, but that was before she met April who, for all her talk of rebooting and servers and everything else Toby didn't understand, had still been a little girl who loved her mommy with everything she had. Now Toby sees a person, and her memories of Gillian as a toddler are still so fresh it's easy for her to see that this little being must be about the same age in one way or another. It causes her heart to catch in her throat for a second, but she swallows down the pain and her smile isn't nearly as forced as it is a lot of the time her past comes back to haunt her]

Ah, no, hadn't heard about it sorry. What do you need? Besides an extra pair of eyes to watch this little troublemaker that is. [that's said warmly, though. Some people who know Toby only as the woman who is covered in blood more often than not might be surprised by that]
